Thank you so much for your review. I’m glad you found our hostel to be good value for money; we strive to provide the best facilities and service for the best price possible. I’m very sorry to hear about your condition, you have my sympathies and I really appreciate your honesty and attempts to resolve the situation, it couldn’t have been easy or pleasant to deal with. As much as we value your honesty and cooperation, we have a duty to our other guests to provide a high standard of cleanliness in line with the health and safety regulations. As such, it would not be possible for us to allow for the mattress to be cleaned by anyone else but a professional using professional equipment and chemicals to ensure we meet the health and safety standards. Our mattresses are specifically designed for the hospitality industry, they are heavy duty and have a number of features to prevent things like bed bugs and mites. Our housekeeping team thoroughly inspect the mattresses, as well as all the linen between each guest use to ensure these features are not compromised for everyone’s health and well-being. Along with a coffee shop/cafe, there's a snack bar/deli on site. You can enjoy a drink at the bar/lounge. A computer station is on site and WiFi is free in public spaces. A vending machine, an arcade/games room, and multilingual staff are also featured at Kick Ass Grassmarket - Adults Only - Hostel. This Edinburgh hostel is smoke free.
