I had a fantastic stay during my city break. The hotel exceeded expectations in every way. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, always ready to assist with anything we needed. The breakfast was delicious with a great variety to start the day right.
The location couldn’t be better just a short walk to Tesco for any quick needs, 10 minutes to the charming old town, and also only 10 minutes from the Airport Express bus stop, which made traveling super convenient.
Everything was excellent, and I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the city.
Want it to sound more casual or more formal?
The heating in the hotel was broken, no advance warning they clearly knew about it before hand and where using stall tactics insisting it will be fixed, and is just an issue in your room but over heard several other customers make the same complaint.
We had to mention it 7 times and nothing was done we moved rooms and the heating was broken there too, I should have been suspicious the heating was out in the whole hotel with how slow they where to over a different room.
Also in the first room the lights stopped working and it still took two complaints to get moved rooms, I understand things can go wrong but lying and being unhelpful is not good, so would avoid staying here.
Was a lovely clean hotel & quiet.
The only thing that was frustrating was the heating / AC didn’t work but when informing reception they delivered a heater as it was cold.
The Mercure in Edinburgh was clean and tidy. The staff were friendly and attentive.
We didn’t use the bar or restaurant, so I’m unable to comment.
The beds were comfortable.
My only complaint would be that the wifi didn’t work, especially in the rooms. My colleague had the same issue in his room, which was on a different floor.
Heating system in the room was not working properly, booked two rooms and was the same in each room, beds very hard and not too comfortable resulting in a restless night.
I had the most wonderful stay at the Mercure! The staff were so pleasant, and the room was immaculate! I was so impressed, and would definitely stay again
Ever wondered what it would feel like to be buried alive and are you prepared to pay to find out? Then check in to Mercury Edinburgh Haymarket Hotel. My room was two floors below ground, with a tiny window where I could see a sliver of the sky if I angled my head steeply. There was no 4G connection to speak of this deep underground. To make it worse the WiFi was not working properly, because they had stupidly scheduled an upgrade just before the NYE holiday, when BT engineers were guaranteed to be on holiday and not able to come and fix it. I lost three days of work time. Finally the window wouldn’t close on the night that temperatures dropped below freezing and I was moved to a different room. This one was above ground, but at this stage I just wanted to check out and leave. I wouldn’t want to be back here even if I was dead. Avoid if you can.
Lovely stay and lovely hotel, great, quiet location but still close to everything.
Wish there was a smart TV though for when we needed to chill in the room.
This is not a great hostel, to be honest, given the group it belongs to . No better to a travelodge under any of the categories . Had a lot scope.of improvements.
Everything was excellent except the fact their door lock system was down and we needed concierge to open the door every single time. However, they were always available and fast on that: I see that issue in predictable and that does not effect how good the stay was.
