My wife's birthday treat so we could eat at Cote and relax with pool and jacuzzi. On arrival informed pool was out of action but might be back on later. In the room was a birthday card and chocs from the hotel and 2 free drinks at the bar. After a nice evening at Cote we settled down but noticed just a coffee machine on show. It was 5 am and no reply from room service or the desk. So we had to drink pink wine.. 8.30 dressed and visited the desk. Told the Pool was back on and that tea and milk were in a cupboard under the TV. Back to the room and found tea facilities in a cupboard.. visited Pool but it was very cold .. sauna and jacuzzi were good. So would I return.. after all the drama. .. Absolutely .. after all location is perfect for Xmas market, shops and Cote. and now I know where they hide the tea and kettle.

Great hotel in central but quiet location near Exeter Cathedral, with friendly & helpful staff. Disappointed with new charges of £10 per visit since April 2024 for hotel guests to use the pool & spa.

Great room, confusion over extras ordered
An overnighter in Exeter to see a music concert, the room was very tidy and clean and the bed comfortable. I was given an opportunity to preorder wine, champagne or beer for the room, I requested wine, weird I thought the system didn't ask whether I wanted red, white or rose and upon arrival there was no record of the request and then the price came into question, the pre booking was £20 yet initially I was quoted £25, to Mercures credit they instantly changed the price to £20 and delivered the wine to the room with a. Couple of glasses...and the wine was very good 👍

We arrived at our check in time but our room was not ready…also when they handed the key card after reaching it was not ready had wait like for 45min with kid…no one answered the phone at reception and there was no QR code for room service…no condiments…bar food was good but breakfast had very less option compared to IHG.

Tired rooms and hidden charges
The entrance to the hotel was as expected from the website photos looking amazing, check-in efficient and everything from the moment we left the lobby went rapidly downhill. The room was tired, shabby and overheated (resorted to turning AC off and it still didn’t cool down) the bathroom was nice looking recently refurbished. The shocker was paying to use the pool facilities. At £10 this was really disappointing and be prepared for the £15 per day/night parking charge…. With pool and car parking charges the added an additional 25% to the bill.

I was a bit dubious when booking this hotel, having read some reviews, however, I was pleasantly surprised. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The hotel was busy, but there was ample parking. Staff were friendly and helpful. Short walk from the Quay, Cathedral and town centre. Would definitely recommend and would definitely book to stay again.

Late arrive no room service mixed message about when it finished. It was OK but not great... Can be drematicaly improved for little cost. Example... The information sheet given at reception is the 'cheep' yellowish type it just smacks of penny pinching for the cost of quality even if recycled it could be better. I slept very well as it was quiet and comfortable. Bathroom was good quality and v. clean

Disappointed that spa not included in the price. Very nice breakfast. Very nice hotel and very nice room - we were free upgraded to Privilege room which was brilliant , more space, lovely big windows with nice view, lovely furniture and drinks included too
