Hydrangea Cottage is bright and spacious with an open floor plan, cathedral ceilings, large windows and skylights.
Inside: a modern fully equipped kitchen (seating six) opens to a spacious den with large screen TV. The Master bedroom features a gas fireplace with stone hearth, king size bed and intimate lounge area which adds a romantic touch. The Queen size bedroom includes a large built in desk and working area with extensive bookcases, perfect for remote work during your vacation. Twin bedroom is decorated for youngsters and has large double closets. Hardwood floors throughout the house and tile floors in all three bathrooms enhance comfort. Central air and ceiling fans in every room cool even the hottest summer days.
Outside: summer living and entertaining are easy on a half-acre of lawns and gardens with outdoor dining. Sliding glass doors from the Master bedroom and kitchen/den open to a wrap-around deck and expansive stone patio with grill. A raised hydrangea garden encloses the patio and lends color and privacy to outdoor gatherings. A new feature is a large mahogany outdoor shower. Also available are a thornless blackberry and blueberry patch with fruit ripening in the summer for your enjoyment.

The cottage is on a quiet lane in a classic New England rural village sited on peninsula projecting into Narragansett Bay. The area offers magnificent sea views across idyllic pastures, dairies and farms. An easy walk leads to pristine Goosewing Beach, rated one of the top 5 best beaches in New England by Boston Magazine; it is a mile long and perfect for swimming, beach combing, sunning, kayaking and surfing. At night (with permit) one can have bonfires for a clam bake or cookout by the surf. Numerous nearby wildlife preserves, riding stables and nature trials offer bird watching, hiking and biking.
To the West, Newport with it's famous 'gilded age' mansions, well preserved colonial district, numerous boutique shops and art galleries are a wonderful day trip just 35 min. away. Bristol's stately homes and gardens and Colt Park in Warren are delightful and all in easy reach.
To the East, New Bedford, home of largest fishing fleet in New England is just 25 miles and offers superb seafood restaurants, a quaint 18th century town quarter and the renowned Whaling Museum. Ferries leave daily for Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket Island.
To the North in Fall River (25 min. away) is the WWII historic navy sight featuring the battleship USS Massachusetts, WWII PT boats like President Kennedy's, a WWII US submarine a small navy museum and other sights.
Closer attractions include golf courses, canoe and kayak rentals on the Westport River and wine tasting at Sakonnett vineyards. Tiverton Four Corners offers crafts outlets, restaurants, ice cream and art galleries set in historic grist mill buildings on rushing brook. Numerous farm stands offer local produce, especially berries and fruits, as well as fresh fish.
September through mid October is a glorious time at Hydrangea Cottage in Little Compton. There are fewer people on the nearby beaches, the Ocean is at it's warmest, the days are balmy, the nights cool and crisp. The fall harvest fills the shelves of road farm stands. There are no lines for area attractions including the Newport Mansions, historic sites and museums.
