Hop on the historic St Charles streetcar just four blocks away and ride down to Bourbon Street or up to historic Audubon Park.

Guests will have the entire two bedroom apartment to themselves. There is also a fully stocked kitchen. The couch pulls out into a queen size bed for additional sleeping. There are two bathrooms, a washer/dryer, and a patio that is shared with another unit. The perfect spot for a vacation!

The Neighborhood:
Magazine Street is the "Main Street" of Uptown New Orleans. Enjoy dozens of boutique shops, local restaurants, and cozy bars. Prime location for Mardi Gras and St. Patrick's Day parades.

Garden District
U.S. National Register of Historic Places
U.S. National Historic Landmark District

This whole area was once a number of plantations, including the Livaudais Plantation. It was sold off in parcels to mainly wealthy Americans who did not want to live in the French Quarter with the Creoles. It became a part of the city of Lafayette in 1833, and was annexed by New Orleans in 1852.[8] The district was laid out by New Orleans architect, planner, and surveyor Barthelemy Lafon.

Originally the area was developed with only a couple of houses per block, each surrounded by a large garden, giving the district its name. In the late 19th century, some of these large lots were subdivided, as uptown New Orleans became more urban. This has produced a pattern for much of the neighborhood: of any given block having a couple of early 19th-century mansions surrounded by "gingerbread"-decorated late Victorian period houses. Thus, the "Garden District" is now known for its architecture more than for its gardens per se.

A slightly larger district (one block further west to Louisiana, one block farther north to Carondelet, and three blocks farther east to Josephine) was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1974.

Everyone agrees. Uptown’s got the looks in the family, bless its heart. Those handsome neighborhoods, like the St. Charles Avenue streetcar, trundle upriver, unfolding as a series of distinctive names: Oretha Castle Haley, The Garden District, Irish Channel, Riverside, the Black Pearl, Carrollton. Uptown’s homes -- gleaming white and tiered like wedding cakes or shot-gunned into long, narrow lots – are the place’s glory and sheltered by canopies of leafy green or family trees as branched and blossoming as any ancient magnolia. The air’s opulent with the scent of jasmine and a slower, grander age. Uptown, where white tablecloths still cover two-tops. The waiter knows both your name and your preferences. A gin fizz? The crabmeat salad? Satsuma orange ice cream? They’re all on offer, as are the dazzling array of goods. The smart shops on Oak and Maple, Freret and Magazine, rival anything anywhere else. But this is Uptown, sugar. Once you’re here, there’s no reason – not ever – to leave.

Getting Around:
With a walkability score of 91 and a bike score of 65, there’s no need to rent a car for your stay. The St. Charles streetcar line is just 5 blocks away through the beautiful Garden District.

Other Things to Note:
The two bedrooms are "shotgun style"- an architectural style common in New Orleans , where you walk through one bedroom to get to the other.

We’ve put our heart and soul into making this a special space. If there’s anything – big or small – that we can do to make your stay better, please let us know. We’re constantly making improvements and welcome all suggestions :) Also the bedrooms are shotgun style- walk through one to get to the next. Very common in New Orleans.

Interaction with Guests:
We interact as little or as much as you like. We are always happy to meet guests, answer any questions or provide recommendations.
During your stay at this holiday home, you're just a quick walk from Magazine Street. The holiday home offers a kitchen and a washer/dryer.
  • Air-conditioned home with kitchen, washer/dryer and 2 bathrooms
  • Just a 4-minute drive from Ernest N. Morial Convention Center and a few minutes from Port of New Orleans
Sunny Historic 2br Magazine Street House offers its guests barbecue grills. The front desk is open around the clock.

NOLA Magazine stay
Great property! Very clean and comfortable. Great outdoor area on the side. It was a little noisy on Saturday night as it sits right on Magazine but that is to be expected. No problem parking and was walking distance to alot of great stuff.

Great Place in NOLA
We were there for college move in. We loved the area and convenience to walk to places. Dealing w/ the mgmt/owner was great and simple. Magazine St can be a challenge for parking but not a big deal. The house was perfect for us!

Perfect place for our family to use as a base during our holiday in NOLA. Staying on Magazine street was the perfect location with lots to see and do right outside the front door. Host was exceptional at communicating with us. Thanks for completing our great family holiday!

Great location!
This house was nice. The location was perfect. There is a bus stop across the street and streetcar stop not to far away. We bought a 3-day Jazzy pass for $8/person. The Lower Garden Distict is beutiful. A great neighborhood for shopping and restaurants. It is on a busy street but we quickly got used to it and had no problems sleeping. Would definitely stay here again!

The house itself is very charming. We loved how convenient it was to great restaurants, grocery store, bus line, and Garden District. I expected the street noise to be somewhat loud being on a main street, but it was worse than I imagined. All in all, a great place!

Great location and plenty of space
We enjoyed our stay- the outdoor space was unexpected but nice! We picked this location as it was close to friends who live nearby and great walking location to many shops and restaurants. As per previous reviews the street is quite busy and noisy and therefore we brought fans to help with blocking out the noise at night. Kitchen and bathrooms were well stocked and we had everything we needed-we appreciated it!

Great Location and Good NOLA Home
Overall a great trip. The location is great, but the house is a typical NOLA home that hasn't been significantly updated. As other reviews have said, it is a busy corner and it transfers into the home. The primary bedroom is in the front of the house and if you are a light sleeper, you may have issues. We had some issues with the fridge. The owner was communicative but because of the week, it was never able to be addressed. House was as it is presented in the photos and the beds were comfortable. Some cool outdoor space, but we were unable to really use it because of the weather. We would consider it again for a future trip.

Great location but noisy throughout the night
Great location! Clean and comfortable. Did wish there was some sound deadening in the bedroom window that was street side, as night time was noisy and nothing much to to help reduce. Foam, thick curtain, other window tx would help. A little awkward with both bedrooms adjoining- glad friends were deep sleepers.

Great stay in the Garden District with lots of space !
Great house in perfect location - I walked daily for a cup of coffee at Starbucks ( across street ), French Truck Coffee ( their cold brew is so good), and the Vintage . Quick walk to the streetcar or a cheap Uber ride downtown . Go to Tracey’s one block away and Empanola further up magazine ! The rooms are spacious and beds were very comfy . Parking was a non-issue. Half the time I parked directly outside , the other time it was within a block . Picture needs to be updated as paint is blue on the trim , and as other reviewers have said , the curtains are sheer and the window at the front door needs a covering to shield from the sun in the AM and bright lights from cars at night . Wine glasses need to be updated/ have a set of 4 matching and there were only a few coffee mugs . Overall, it was great for a family ( the kids stayed in the interior bedroom And the sofa bed ), in a great location with responsive hosts

Good proximity but very noisy
This home was located in a good area which was close to restaurants and shops - which we appreciated - but being right on Magazine St made it very noisy - during the day and into the night. The windows were single-paned and some didn't close all the way, and the street noise was always an issue. We were glad to be close to the streetcar, but we would not stay here again because of the noise.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The house was very clean and tidy. The rooms were pleasant and comfortable and there was a fully equipped kitchen and laundry room. Although parking is not possible at the house itself, there is plenty of parking available on nearby streets. We usually parked a half block away.I would happily stay here again.

Old world charm with modern amenities and friendly hosts
My mother and I had the best time at this property. The house is beautiful, elegantly decorated yet still comfortable and welcoming. It was impeccably clean and the kitchen was well stocked with everything you’d need. It was the perfect location—the neighborhood has lots of restaurants and shops; a grocery store and the streetcar were within reasonable walking distance (about 10 minutes). It was so easy to get down to the French Quarter or anywhere else downtown—we used a mix of Uber and the streetcar. The hosts were great about communicating with us and so accommodating. Some reviewers have mentioned they thought it was noisy—we had no issues—it was normal street noise in a city. Overall, it was the perfect spot—staying in comfort with easy access to any other location in the city. We would happily stay again any time we come back!

Great location; comfortable stay
Right on Magazine Street, with eateries, coffee shops and interesting browsing shops in easy walking distance. Also nearby was a grocery store and a couple of drugstores -- so well located. Great kitchen, with lots of helpful amenities -- more coffee mugs would have been nice but it worked wth four. Cooler temps weren't a problem because the heater worked well. Comfortable. We were lucky to be with good friends and were able to cope with the bedroom layout. Magazine is constantly busy, so expect car and foot traffic that can sometimes be noisy. But we were there for friends and a return to a magic city and we got a healthy dose of both.

Perfect Wedding Weekend
Friends and I stayed here for a wedding down the street. The house was in a perfect location for the Garden District and a short ride down to the French quarter. The house was comfortable and clean. Coming from a big city the street noise did not bother us but could be troubling for those who aren’t used to living in the city. Overall would stay again.

Spring trip
We had a fantastic stay. The location was perfect proximity to Garden District shopping, homes. The Ruby Slipper was less than a block away .. as was Starbucks. Met for a walking tour 6 blocks away at a great bakery.. The Morning Call where you could hop on the St Charles streetcar and get to the French Quarter in 15 minutes. Dinner two blocks down from the home at Joey Ks Restaurant and Bar was excellent. Beds and bathrooms were fine. Kitchen was well appointed. Nice outdoor patio. Safe location. The owner was quick to answer questions we had. Only two points to keep in mind…it’s located on a street with some traffic and there is urban noise… not a problem for us however. Also, to get to the second bedroom you must walk thru the other bedroom. Also not a problem for us as we were with family members. … but some things folks should know. Overall we loved staying in the historic home with beautiful wood floors and high ceilings. We would definitely stay here again.
