Turned up the heat.
Cleaning crew left the heater on as high as it could be set, bfore 3 pm. We got there at 11 pm. After 8 hours the room was about 90 degrees, or more. The carpet was hot. The blankets, sheets, pillows, and mattress were hot. The chairs, walls, and countertops were hot. The toilet seat was hot. It was 46 degrees outside but we slept with the air conditioning on high all night. The shower head shot water out the sides, reducing the water pressure, and spraying the walls and floor.

Overall, our stay was good. We were however a bit disappointed because we specifically asked for a smoking room on the first floor. When we arrived we were told that we were not given a smoking room because we booked through a third-party, if we wanted a smoking room they could "upgrade" our stay (we had to pay extra). Because we did not want to "upgrade", we were also told that my husband, who smokes cigars, could just sit outside his room and smoke.

Very old hotel. All doors access to outside of building. Room itself had some recent remodeling. Wood floors instead of a rug which I liked. Overall the main room and bed was clean. TV had limited access to channels. Bathroom needed an upgrade. Tub had cigarette burns and floor molding was loose in a few places. If you just need a room for a night or two, it serves the purpose and you don’t feel squeamish to sleep in the bed. Just don’t expect a modern 4 star hotel.

This was a last minute, car broke down on the way home stay. However, the cleanliness and amenities that we received from our previous night’s stay with a lesser “quality” and half the price, competitor, far outshined this hotel. The bathroom was filthy, especially the tub. We wouldn’t even bathe our toddlers in it. We stood them under the shower. The floors in the room were so disgusting that when our 3 year old got into the shower, black grime poured off his feet. The TV wouldn’t stay level and when you could finally get it turned on, the channels were all out of sorts and cut in and out, not just working and not, but different channels. It would say HBO, but be CNN, then flip to something else and then back. The AC unit was monstrously loud and woke me up throughout the night. Staff was friendly, albeit far from professional. This was a major disappointment on top of an already rough day.

This was a quiet and lovely stay. I would recommend it to others. The only quirk I experienced was the difficulty in adding an extra day through both the Days Inn as well as through Expedia booking. I understand jumping through hoops to cancel a day but you’d think it would be simpler to add a day. After all it is to their advantage, right?
