*FOOD POISONING ON CHRISTMAS DAY* The food was very mediocre at best. If you cook a lot at home, you can probably cook better meals than what you get here. Breakfast was good because you can't really screw up an omelette. For lunch and dinner the meats were dry and desserts were worse than grocery store bought cakes. Pastries at the coffee shop were dry. Coffee shop lady was very friendly and coffee was ok. On Christmas around 10:45pm (right before the menu change) I was served room temperature/cold chicken wings from the sports bar and didn't think much of it (they probably had these chicken wings cooked from earlier in the service and was left at room temperature before serving to me). 1-2 hours after consuming the chicken I had the onset of fever and chills followed by profuse vomiting and diarrhea. Unfortunately, the malaise, diarrhea, and abdominal cramps carried over into the next day and we had to cancel our Chichen itza tour that we had already paid for (there goes a couple hundred dollars). On Dec 27, on my plane ride back I was still experiencing the symptoms having to run to the bathroom multiple times. The food safety practices are obviously not up to standard and completely ruined my Christmas and vacation. There are obviously fake reviews claiming the food here is amazing or I may be spoiled coming from Vancouver where the food scene is well established. Please think twice about booking here.

Loved: 1. The beach & the hammocks! What a lovely place to chill and forget about everything else! 2. The yoga class was phenomenal! Richie was a fantastic instructor! 3. The fire show on Saturday evening was such a visual treat! 4. Food & services in Blue Moon, Mike's Coffee Shop, & El Charro were next level! SO GOOD, 10/10. 5. Service throughout the resort overall was top-notch everywhere we went: beach towel station, ice cream stand, the bar by the activity pool, lagoon tour, room service housekeeping... kudos to the staff! Did not like: 1. Hot water supply was disrupted in two separate evenings. We both love taking hot showers in the evening before bed so the lack of hot water was not the best experience. Called the front desk but was told we had to wait for the boiler to heat up. Likely a maintenance issue. 2. Food in LA Dolce Vita (the Italian restaurant) was mediocre. We had to wait for 30 minutes for our table but the overall experience was underwhelming... 3. On our second last day at the resort it rained. I wouldn't say it was super heavy, but the most walking paths in the resort were flooded and we had to walk on the grass hills. It took 2 days for the water to subside - an indication of aged stormwater infrastructure. Overall: Our very first adult-only all-inclusive, but exceeded our expectations!

This is an excellent resort, one of the best we have been to! There are many food options and a lovely beach, but what I loved most are the number of activities the experience team hosts EVERYDAY for FREE. There is also room service for free!! We enjoyed the activities we engaged in (a lagoon tour with an opportunity to swim, kayaking, bracelet making, nightly shows, macrame, bingo, live music, the list goes on!) and most importantly LOVED the experience team themselves. Viri, one of the experience team members, was most incredible! She was always so warm and welcoming and went out of her way to ensure we made the most of our trip and had fun. Kendall, Carlos, and Dali were also fabulous! We would definitely come back, and recommend this to anyone. There were lots of amenities available and everyone was incredibly kind. We felt so safe on this resort and look forward to returning. 10/10!

Beautiful grounds, the pool and beach were always clean. All of the staff were super attentive and friendly. We had the Privilege package and it was wonderful. The beds were very comfortable, the food was delicious! We had a wonderful time getting lots of R&R. We always had a golf cart ride to wherever we needed if we needed it.

A Wonderful Getaway for Adults We had a great experience at the Ocean Maya Royale resort! From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was safe, cozy, and welcoming. Viridiana and her entertainment team went above and beyond to create personalized connections with guests, offering engaging and enjoyable activities throughout our stay. The food was delicious, with plenty of options to satisfy different tastes, and the staff were exceptionally friendly and accommodating. Room service was excellent, making us feel pampered and well taken care of. The beach was well-maintained, perfect for relaxing and swimming. For those looking to explore the underwater world, scuba diving instructors (https://diveitmexico.com/) were available at the beach, offering lessons and guidance for beginners. We also appreciated the convenience of gift shopping right at the resort. Overall, this is an excellent place for a relaxing and fun-filled adult getaway. Highly recommended!

I would say this hotel is average at best. Buffet was very average and the same items every day. After staying at 9 different all inclusive resorts in the area, I would say thisone was the most average.
