Very pleasant stay at Hilton Orchard

The stay was very good for me and family. The staff were friendly and went extra mile to ensure that the 2 night stay was a very pleasant one. Room is nicely renovated and spacious. We were there to celebrate my girl’s birthday and hotel gave us a surprise by putting up a “Happy Birthday” banner. Very nice of the hotel to do it for my girl.

Room, nice and large. Very Nice. Bathroom size was very large and good for family. Only letdown in the bathroom was the shower in the bathtub and a curtain to stop the water. i think they are dangerous and dated. The shower curtain is also a dated idea, you put the curtain in the bath to stop the water and you feel claustrophobic, or if you leave it on the outside the bathroom gets flooded. When i booked the hotel ( through hotels.com ) , i booked for five people, 2 adults and 3 children. i rang the day before to confirm their was enough beds and was told yes. When i booked in the lady at the front desk said their was enough beds for 5. When i got to room, their was only 2 king beds. Then i was told it was and extra charge for another bed ( $120 bed fee, $12 service fee,$11.88 gst fee, per day ). How can a booking be taken, when their is not enough beds for the total number of people? Lastly, on the 20th of February ( my daughters birthday ), we went back to Ginger Lilly's for a cake. We purchased the whole cake, i asked for a candle, the service girl came back with a candle and a match, we sang happy birthday, we were given 9 plates and a butter knife to cut the cake. The cake was beautiful, i just think for the price i paid for the cake ($90), the least the cafe could have done was given me a proper knife to cut the cake, or get the chef to cut the cake, the butter knife did a horrible job at cutting the cake. Great location - but can be cleaner

Stayed in the usual suite with the separate living room (Room 1326). The shower drain cover and the bathroom drain cover in the second bathroom was left open. There was a strand of hair on the counter of the sink (not mine) which I purposely did not remove - it was there for the whole 3 days that I was staying there.

You get what you pay for. Excellent hotel in a great location. The room is quite spacious, clean, and has all the needed amenities (like fridge, and safe). The closet is big. The toiletries are of good quality. The elevators are fast. The breakfast buffet although expensive (about 50 SGD), but is very diverse and big. Taxis are always available at the entrance, and the guys there are very helpful in getting you one. The concierge staff are helpful. There were times when we came with shopping bags that they took and delivered to our room when we wanted to drop them off to leave again. They also offer umbrellas to borrow. There are many shopping malls (international and local) around the hotel. Unfortunately, no room service (lunch and dinner) except for in-room breakfast. There are two buildings (wings) with separate elevators: Mandarin wing (rooms 1-29) and Orchard wing (rooms 30 and above).
