The Country House Cottage was perfect for our family's stay. We have two teens and they enjoyed it, too. It feels bigger in the living room than it looks in the pictures. Irene communicated with us before the trip, and Jim was very helpful during our stay, stopping by to fill the hummingbird feeder and make sure we were doing well. The cottage is well appointed with dishes, a good size fridge and oven. It's tastefully decorated but not to fussy. We enjoyed sitting on the porch and watching the hummingbirds and whistling ducks. We were able to get in to Fredericksburg for the Thursday farmer's market/fair where we had excellent Mexican food and oven-baked pizza, after checking out an antique mall. Another day we hiked to the summit at Enchanted Rocks, and ate at Cooper's BBQ in Llano after checking out an antique shop, and took the Willow City Loop drive back to the house. We walked around the hosts' property, which Jim had invited us to do, and enjoyed the Texan landscape. We went to the Natural Bridge Caverns north of San Antonio, then San Jose Mission (which had a free tour with an engaging guide), then parked in a lot in San Antonio, where we checked out the Alamo, then got dinner along the river after a river walk. If you love nature, you will also enjoy the Pedernales Falls State Park where we saw a huge variety of wildlife. Lots to do around here in the hill country, and a great country home to come back to!
