The house is beautiful, and the setting is perfect, being at the end of 5th Street, and nothing between you and the beach except a walk through the scrub grass. The house is very well-sized, and handled our group of seven easily. The five bedrooms are all roomy, and spaced out enough we didn’t really hear each other much, although it is an old house that makes some noise.
There was more than ample room for lounging, with the main living room/fireplace room, the sunroom looking toward the beach, and the large dining room. Two of our younger guests took turns enjoying one of the window seats each day while playing games or reading. We really enjoyed the pictures of owner’s family house and we had fun looking at them. The kitchen was good-sized and well-appointed for what we needed it to do, with plenty of dishes, glasses, and pots and pans.
The location in Gearhart worked out well for us. It was centrally located for day trips to Astoria, Cannon Beach, and Tillamook, and very close to Seaside without the noise and commotion of Seaside. It was blissfully quiet and calm in Gearhart and we had good walks through the neighborhoods.
I am not sure five vehicles would fit in the driveway unless they cut back the bushes a foot or two on each side. The back deck clearly needs some work that should be done soon, but there was plenty of other space for us to be.
All in all, we really liked the house and enjoyed our stay very much, and definitely recommend it for those looking for a quiet beach getaway for a large family or two mid-sized families vacationing together.
