Our stay at Ashland Hills was ok and convenient to I5 as we were on a long road trip. The linens were clean but some areas of the room seemed like they’d been missed (closet shelf very dirty). This property has been somewhat updated, with some exceptions: shower heat only worked sometimes, bathtub drain was extremely slow/seemed clogged, there was graffiti (that had obviously been there for a while) in the elevator. When I mentioned these things to staff they thanked me for letting them know but also seemed to be already aware of these the water and drainage issues. We appreciated the pet friendly policy. However, Hotels.com did not inform us of the additional $30 pet fee and other hotel fees that would be charged on top of what we had already paid to Hotels.com at time of booking and understood to be the complete cost. We ended up having to pay an additional $45 at check in, which made the whole stay feel like less of a value and made it harder to look past some of the issues at the property.

We're regulars" at Ashland Hills due to it's location, quality of staff, pet friendly, and amenities. We are disappointed that the comp breakfast has been discontinued. Perhaps you should consider bringing more of a continental menu as opposed to the wonderful warm breakfast that you used to serve - that is, if cost was a factor. I ate to say it but we may consider other options in the future as a result of this shift.

We enjoyed staying there. Nice place, well-kept, quiet. I didn’t enjoy the resort fee. That’s just a surreptitious surcharge. We just wanted to sleep. Similarly, I didn’t enjoy the charge for breakfast (as of Jan 2?). We took a look and decided it was not worth it.

Hotel staff were very pleasant, the rooms were clean. The beds were comfortable. There was a smell in the hallway and bedroom, which was likely from carpet. Would be a stellar hotel with minor upgrades - changing out carpet, changing the yellow light fixture for brighter light, and updating the TV for streaming options.

Disappointing
The hotel has declined in the last year since changing ownership. The service was poor and the amenities that made it a great option for the area were not available anymore. The hot tub and pool were closed down, the water station was taken away, the restaurant service and food quality went way down. The hotel overall looked worn and not kept up. The room itself was clean, but the heater was not working right and the toilet needed maintenance. For the price, you would be better off downtown.

I had a situation with Luna Cafe, which is the restaurant on the property. I ordered one item, but then was charged two times later in the evening for items I didn’t buy. When I tried to get some help from the front desk and the restaurant, they just told me there was no one on site who could help. We had to leave the hotel early to get to our destination, and they told me the manager would call me. No one has called. I had to deal with the issue by calling my bank. I used to really love staying at this hotel on our drive from California to Washington, but it has really changed recently, with a ridiculous resort fee, among other changes. And today’s lack of helpfulness has made me feel like I don’t want to stay there anymore.
