Stay anywhere else... even home
I will say this place has some of the most honest receptionists I have ever met. Upon entering the hotel, I noticed all the lights were off. We were both put off by it, but decided to give it a shot and check in. The front desk asked how much we booked the resort for and said "this place isnt worth that" then laughed sarcastically and gave me the room key. I asked her what the cancellation policy is and she informed me that I would have to speak to vrbo and the individual property owner because each room was individually owned and operated. We walked to the elevator and noticed the door to the bathroom on the first floor was rotting and dirty, the water fountain was falling apart, and the entire resort was dark. Maybe they were saving money on utilities, I don't know. Once I got to the room, the ceiling was falling apart, the beds were tiny, not even queen size and felt like cardboard. We immediately started calling other properties to find another hotel. We walked out about ten minutes after getting to the room. I called vrbo to get in contact with the property owner and cancel my booking and my partner was on his phone contacting other hotels. Vrbo eventually put me through to the front desk, and the young lady I spoke to asked "why did vrbo send you to me, i cant make the choice of giving you a refund." She asked what my issue was and I told her that we did not feel safe at the resort and it was dirty. The front desk... again being some of the most honest receptionist... said "oh yeah honey i get why you don't feel safe either, well let me try to talk to vrbo and I will tell them you need the property manager."
Alas, i did not hear from the property manager or vrbo that evening. When I called vtbo back around 6, they were closed. That night we found a room at the Marina Inn and decided to stay there.
The next morning I called vrbo again, and they created a support ticket for me. My first call to vrbo was on a thursday and I called every day, they did not connect me with the property manager until Sunday. The manager informed me of their no refund policy and claimed I never told anyone that I did not feel safe and that I was not going to be staying there. Upon further communications between us the property manager claims to have forwarded my contact information to the company director. It has now been a week and he has not contacted me. I followed up with the owner to receive his informations. Go somewhere else.
