Anniversary Celebration

We had been here previously and had a great experience. We returned this time (for two nights) to celebrate our 66th wedding anniversary and were not disappointed in the least. Service is excellent. The Peacock Room is first class and the food beyond compare. We love the character of this old hotel. There are not many places like this.

Great visit

Visited for a wedding and was highly impressed by the stay. Not only was the staff so friendly they were accommodating, and eager to assist. The bed was extremely comfortable. My only dislike was the thinness of the walls, but that was to be expected by the buildings age.

Disappointed.

I'd enjoyed breakfast at the Peacock lounge many times and was excited to finally experience being an overnight guest. Unfortunately, I slept horribly. The HVAC roared like a jet engine; the uninsulated walls carried my neighbors' voices & their banging headboard (while they were "busy"); and the pillows were overstuffed and lumpy. If no structural changes can be made to an historic hotel, they could still upgrade the HVAC units, add acoustic panels on the walls, and use better pillows. Disappointed.

I enjoyed learning about the history of the property. The bed was clean and comfortable. The shower is small, but given the building's age (almost 100 years old), it's quite impressive. The staff-run elevator ride was a fun and informative experience, thanks to the kind and attentive staff. I also enjoyed the Peppermint Mocha at the coffee bar in the morning. Downsides: The hallway noise from closing doors was a minor disturbance. The heater was quite loud. We could occasionally smell smoke from another room, likely from someone violating the no-smoking policy (possibly marijuana). Highlights: Convenient access to the downtown square and the availability of dining options on-site were definite pluses. Overall, it was a good stay. I appreciated the unique character of this historic hotel in the American Southwest.
