This house was perfect for our group - two couples and one baby. All three bedrooms are about the same size (one is a bit smaller, but not much), the beds were pretty comfy, and the living room, kitchen and dining room are all a good size and well-furnished. The house is very old, but has had some updates, including the bathroom, and it was very clean when we arrived. Unfortunately, it was too warm during our trip to use the wood-burning stove. That would've been fun.
The only negatives are that when we first got there, the house smelled a bit like an old house. It reminded me of how my grandma's old house used to smell. We opened the windows and the smell was gone pretty quickly, but it was a bit striking when we first arrived. The second issue is that it is located on a main road that goes through Carlton. This is only a problem if you want to sleep with the windows open, and are a light sleeper. The speed limit is only 25 in the area in front of the house, so the road noise is typically very tolerable, and can be soothing if you like that sort of thing. Sometimes a big logging truck would drive by and make a bit of a racket, but again, our daughter slept in a room that was facing the road with the window open, and she didn't wake up during the night.
The backyard has a nice deck that we spent some time on in the evenings. And the location is in the heart of pinot country. We had a very short drive to so many area wineries, we never got more than a couple of miles from the house. Also, the kitchen had very nice glassware. I like drinking good wine out of good wine glasses. Overall, it was a great place to stay and we would stay there again.
