As a solo traveler, I love to stay here. It’s very centrally located and the rooms are comfortable. I usually only stay a couple days in Amsterdam so the Hotel Van Gelder is a great choice. If you want a simple stay and don’t need a lot then I highly recommend staying here. Good prices and nice staff.

Good location, clean hotel.
The hotel is conveniently located. Our room which was on the top floor was very clean, comfortable, equipped with air conditioner. Bathroom was modern and clean. No breakfast but they gave 10% coupons to nearby restaurants. The only downside are the stairs which are too steep and look kind of dangerous and we were not looking forward to going up and down. But I wouldnt fault this to the hotel.

My room was at the top floor and was not very convenient if you have a big bag to carry with you on the narrow stairs. Room was average and there was dust under the bed.

Nice place, great location
Great place, friendly staff, great location. The stairs are a trek, but it gets the exercise covered. Close to central station. I'd be a bit concerned about how hot it can be in the summer, but I'd definitely consider it.

The location was excellent for me didn't need to get a taxi as I was able to walk everywhere and trams just outside of hotel main train station is less than a 5 minute walk also bars and restaurants all around boat trips 1 minute walk from hotel staff very friendly and helpful i will be back

Good for the money. Very central. I didn't have high hopes at first, but once settled in was more than happy. Room was basic, but fresh, reasonably comfortable and cleaned out everyday. Staff were helpful. Shower and toilet worked. I've stayed in enough budget hotels to know one that is well run when I see it. This is a very well managed operation and although a bit of a maze is a good option for a single person or those on a budget looking to enjoy Amsterdam for a few days and given the proximity to the central station anywhere in the Netherlands.

No regrets about staying at van Gelder hotel, the staff massive friendly they always willing to support and make your stay comfortable. The hotel is tiny but clean, and its location is great (walkable ) near to central station, with many restaurants, coffee shops, coffee and shopping centres near.

Lovely room, room had recently been upgraded. Comfortable beds & nice bathroom. Only down side was on the top floor without a lift however the stairs were manageable.

Great central location
Hotel was very close to Amsterdam Central Station and very convenient for the city centre. Rooms recently updated, very comfortable and clean with good facilities. Only word of caution is the property has very steep narrow stairs so if you have any mobility issues request the lowest floor.

Stayed one night in downtown Amsterdam and this room met all my needs. Good shower water pressure, comfortable bed, and quiet for sleep despite being in the middle of a lot of action. Some rooms require going up and down steep stairs, like much of central Amsterdam hotels, so be aware of that when booking!
