The carpet outside the bathroom became wet just after we arrived. The staff was great and brought towels to soak it up. Otherwise the room was very nice and we enjoyed our stay.

We had a very enjoyable stay at the AmericInn Paul Bunyan in Bemidji, MN. It was a busy hotel for a Tuesday evening, but it was VERY quiet. The beds were very nice and firm, so we did not wake up with a back ache. Staff were pleasant if not always easily accessible. The pool facilities were nicely appointed with a supply of towels in the pool area so you don't need to use the room towels. The neighborhood is less exciting because it is in the main everyday shopping district of Bemidji, which is quite a ways away from the lake front and downtown. But Bemidji is easily to navigate if you have your own vehicle; downtown is about 10 minutes drive and the lake front parks roughly the same. We definitely will return to this hotel for future trips to Bemidji.

The manager had trouble finding me a clean room that met my request. A house keeper helped me straighten out the room confusion and even helped me carry my suitcase up the stairs.

Worst experience ever

The hot tub jets didnt work. The towels were not stocked in our room. The beds were rock hard and little to no sleep was harld. The absolute worst part was: even though we had checked in (Sunday), we were marked as a no-show. They re-assigned people to our room (Monday), who tried to get in, while we were thankfully in the room. If we hadn't been there, all of our stuff could have been stolen due to a clerical error. Then they called the room to verify who was in the room and why we were in there. We had been there since Sunday afternoon. Everything combined created the worst experience we have ever had in any hotel. Makes you not want to stay in an Americinn ever again.

The property was fine, but could use a bit of an update. The fitness room was missing any type of weights, just two treadmills and an elliptical. For the cost, it was ok for what we needed. The location is close to a variety of different stores and restaurants. If you’re looking to enjoy your hotel, maybe splurge for a bit more of a cost per night. Otherwise, if it is really about a place to stay, this hotel is right for you.

They did not have a pet friendly room available despite me having that on my reservation. They turned me away without help and would not honor my reservation. This was on a busy holiday. Beware!!
