Needs Updating

The Great Western is a dated motel that is in a good location on Rt. 50 in Salida. The room was clean, but the decor needed to be updated. The space was ample for two people, but the soundproofing between rooms was poor. The staff was friendly, but this did not offset the dated and somewhat rundown condition of the property.

Cute and quiet and cozy place, felt like a little like staying in a family members cabin. Cable had lots of good tv channel options, bathroom shower head was great in my opinion, perfect water pressure and temp, and there was an awesome Mexican restaurant right across the street.

This isn't a bad place. But it's kind of noisy and always has construction going on. The room is good but the motel doesn't look that good because of that. I'll stay there again.

Noisy neighbor

Nicely kept old motel. Check in was fine. Room is dated and mattress was painful. Walls are really thin and I could hear the couple next door arguing and talking all night.

Good for a one night stay while traveling

The lodge was fine for a one night stay while traveling. The room was clean and adequate. The bed was comfortable. We did not use the pool. Parking was in front of the room which made unloading easy.

This hotel is close to Salida downtown and to the hot springs and Buena Vista. The swimming pool is large for a hotel pool, and a very comfortable temperature.
