You won’t find better in Chiang Mai for comfort, good service or location. Particularly nice for older guests who want quiet, but young people like it, too, for the calm ambiance and pleasant neighborhood. A true joy!
Breakfast was just OK and the location is OK—made better once you realize how close you are to the wet market. But the rooms were spacious, and the service was EXCEPTIONAL. On check-in, I noted the wonderful smell of Jasmine flowers in a bowl, and the clerk said they came from her garden. The next day, a small garland appeared in my room! I couldn't believe it. They helped me in several ways. I'd return for the helpful service any time.

Nice sized room
Room was very spacious. I got a suite with a separate room.
The bathroom had a separate shower room and a different room for the bathtub.
The condition of the shower was less than desirable but tolerable considering the big spacious room size.
This was quite possibly the worst hotel I've ever stayed at. The first night we were in a room with a broken AC and a terrible mattress and I spent the night awake in 90 degree heat. They moved us into another room where the AC worked but the mattress still sucked. It was like a yoga mat on a cement slab. We would have moved hotels but the rooms were already paid for through Hotels.com and we wouldn't have gotten a refund. We didn't enjoy Chiang Mai because we barely slept.
Then when we went to check out they charged us extra for a pillowcase claiming that we got "hair dye" on the pillow. Neither of us use hair dye and we absolutely did NOT stain a pillow with anything. When we asked to see the pillowcase we "ruined" they said it had been washed already. We had no choice in paying this charge because they kept a deposit for the room key and refused to return the full deposit.
I would avoid this hotel when staying in Chiang Mai. The beds are terrible and I suspect they make their money ripping off customers with bogus charges.
The staff at Viangbua Mansion is first-rate. We stayed here for one night after a dreadful stay at a hostel that presented itself as an upscale guesthouse on another booking site. In that one night, they put us in a suite, provided laundry services, assisted us in acquiring a scooter rental, and even held our bags after we checked out while we took off to Wat Soi Duthep. While the rooms are a little drab, the hospitality more than make up for it. This was hands-down our best hotel experience throughout our entire trip. We most definitely will stay here again!
A real home far from home, with all the conveniences surrounding like market, little shops, farmacy, red cab and the Old City. Friendly, charming and helpful staff, we definitely recommend Viangbua Mansion to our friends to everybody! And most of all, we will return there for our next trip .
The staff were lovely bunch, always available and very accommodating. We also enjoyedenjoyed the breakfast. For bargain hunters, Staff have most the answers you'll need to make your stay in Chiang Mai economical. Loved it
I cannot express how satisfied I was with my stay at Viangbua mansion. At under 20 USD a night, I was a bit apprehensive about the quality of my stay...however I could find nothing to complain about! The staff had a very high standard of customer service and spoke fluent English. The lobby and rooms were very large and very clean. Laundry and fitness centers are available for use, and the free breakfast was delicious. I also booked a tour through the hotel, which was very reasonably priced and thoroughly enjoyable. Its a kilometer or two away from the city but nothing a 30 baht songthaew ride won't solve! All in all I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone staying in Chiang Mai.

Great hotel at a bargain price.
It is located in the quieter location of Chiangmai. Everything is closed by 9PM except for nearby 7 Eleven. The hotel restaurants closes by 3PM. There's a near by Siri Wattana Market, for all kinds of foods located just around the corner behind this hotel. There's an in-room safe but it's not big enough for a small laptop; it's only big enough for your small valuables. The white towels are more grey and they provide 3 different sizes. The shower is sectioned off from the toilet and sink which is rare in hotels in Thailand. The hot water is never hot enough for my preference but t's more the norm in Thailand than an exception. The room is big and had a separate small living room area with a small 2 person sofa. However, the 13" tv is hardly big enough for the living room Also, the partition that separates the bedroom and living room obscures your view to the TV. So, yes... you can't really watch TV from your bed. The room also comes with a small vanity dresser that acts as a desk for your computer. There are adequate number of electrical outlets throughout the room for my many electronic devices. The WiFi is free and it's fast enough to view videos. The hotel staff is professional and efficient. I was checked into my room within 5 minutes. They use electronic keycards, so there's no need to turn in your keys every time you leave the hotel. Overall, I would recommend this hotel and perhaps stay here again.
I went to Chiang mai for Christmas together with my parents and check in after 8.30pm.the hotel prepared king size bed for 3 of us,that's mean we have to squash in one bed.i said I booked the room for 3 people not 2.the reception very helpful, she quickly changed the room with 1queen bed and 1 single bed.
I really appreciate that and all the staff very polite and friendly.recommended for everyone

Not too bad for the price
It definitely looks better on the outside than it does on the inside. I was a little creeped out by the dark hallways. The rooms were a little tight and had, for me anyway, too much extra furniture. The location is close to a busy market with lots of food and clothes options. Unfortunately, it's a bit far from the center, where a lot of the action is at. The staff is very friendly and accomodating, though.
Stayed there for Xmas, I was a bit surprised how good it is considering the relatively cheep rate charged. It's in Chiang Mai's gay area, most of the gay bars are just walking distance from here. My room is spacious, and Staff are very helpful. special thanks to the girl Joy working at reception for all your help, you made my stay very enjoyable. I will definitely stay here again.
i was very happy when i arrived at the hotel....it was very beautiful....the staff was so friendly and helpful...they went out of the way to help me....my original reservation did not show 2 people in the room and they did not add on an extra charge..they helped me with day trips that were fun and very reasonable compared to what my friends paid at another hotel.....loved that there was a great market just blocks from the hotel....very local...loved it....if you are looking for the typical tourist food this is not for you...very tasty and cheep food and shopping too...
the bank is just about a block from the hotel across the main road and gives a good rate...just a note....if you want a soft western bed...this is not for you as it is typical thai style....not so soft but good for your back.....they packed a breakfast for me and my friend when we had to leave to a day trip before the regular breakfast hour....this is the best deal in chaing mai
We had 2 nites at viangbua. Food market 1minute walk away. Restaurant across the road. Heard Nu's place very good but did not have time to try. No spring in the beds but hay! We slept soundly. overall excellent
The rooms are nice and have lots of storage. There are some nice restaurants nearby and lots of street food options at the public market just around the corner. I think that many of the guests stay for weeks or months at a time. It is a bit far from the old town. It is worth renting a scooter to get around. There is free covered parking for scooters in the basement parking garage.
The staff at Viangbua are amazing. They are so genuine, helpful and friendly. The hotel itself is beautiful and our room looked onto the mountains where Doi Suthep was. Very spacious room with tasty breakfasts, and a great menu for other meals. Despite other reviews, I thought the location was perfect; not too far at all from town.
I only stayed one night but the service on arrival was great and the room bigger than I was expecting. There are food markets nearby and it's about a 10-15 min tuk tuk ride to the Old city. The breakfast was good also!
Overall a great place to stay when I'm Chiang Mai.
I cannot fault this hotel all boxes are ticked!! rooms are comfortable clean and spacious with balconies employees are helpful, happy, polite efficient and just nice!
The price is unbeatable, location although not in the old city a brisk walk, tuk tuk or red bus bus conviently will get you there in minutes the surrounding area has lots on offer from markets selling fresh produce to many food stalls providing a boost for the taste buds with a great view of the mountain and restaurant, coffee shop, laundry room and parking you just cannot find a reason not to base yourself here whilst in Chiang Mai.....enjoy
