Headed down hill ... Updates needed

First impression was of some homeless guy sitting on a stool playing music. Walked into the lobby and it was bland. Front desk reminded me of a inner city convience store. Pool area closed. Room itself wasn't horrible (we checked for bedbugs). Bathroom wasn't cleaned well and the tub had seen far better days. Room wasn't cleaned when we were gone for day. Bath towels were paper thin and stained. It looks like the state of Illinois uses some of the rooms to house people. If you want cheap, this is about one step up from a Motel 6.

Did not like other guests sitting by entrances in beach chairs that you have to walk by them to go inside. And the big one 3 people setting up a bbq in parking lot and cooking right there.

Pulling up to the property, it is extremely run down which is not how it was reflected 6 months ago when I made my reservation. They were clearly under renovations in most areas, breakfast was a joke, the pool closed, no way to go to the next level expect a tiny stair way. People clearly live there and were grilling outside and looked more homeless than anything and ended up coming up to my husband and bothering him and trying to look in our car which made us nervous to leave anything in our car thinking they might try to break into it. The room did what we needed in the need, had hot water,a comfy and what appeared clean bed, and working ac and tv - not that it blocked out the barking dog every morning though it worked but will not stay again or recommend, for the price it was not worth it.

Very gross condition of room itself. Stains on curtains, lamps had spills on them, one twin bed not completely made, no wash clothes for shower only towels!

Pillow cases were filthy sheets were unbleached and dingy, no hot water in the shower,bathroom sink did not properly drain and bathroom needed paint and the whole room smelled,would have walked out but it was a holiday weekend so had no choice.would not recommend,,ever

You get what you pay for.

The hotel is under construction which is good because there are several things that need addressed. Our room had laminated hard wood floors, which was okay, at least they were clean. The bathroom on the other hand had loose fixtures and something in the light that could not be identified. We requested another one bath towel as we had 3 people in the room and only two towels, but we were told they had run out of towels. The only working ice machine is downstairs, not a big deal. The pool is currently closed for construction and there is no elevator.
