We loved staying at Hotel Ely! They have screen doors so you can actually have your door open to enjoy the beautiful weather. Shops and dining are easily walkable.

I was in Ely for just 2 nights for hiking and eating, best restaurants up there and I have some favorites. The owner was friendly and suggested a trail I could manage, I am fat and out of shape. She also told me about a local favorite restaurant. Motel was clean. Good water pressure and air conditioning. I will return

This is now one of my favorite motels. The staff was friendly and the room was extremely clean. After 6 days on the boundary waters this place was comfortable with a welcoming warm shower…however, you do need to bring a hairdryer.

This hotel is a throwback to the 50s. I remember the hotels that you stayed in then you pulled up to the door, walked into the room, unpacked everything and your car was right there waiting for you the next morning. The rooms were extremely clean and although looked like the 50s, they had all been redone with new carpet and fixtures. They still had the wallpaper border around the top of the walls. The owner was wonderful when we checked in and gave us all the information we needed for dining out for breakfast and dinner. Her recommendations were right on. If we are ever in Ely again we will definitely stay at this motel.

I can not wait to stay at the Ely Motel again. This place was the cleanest I have ever been to. The room was so cute. We absolutely loved it. I drove from about 8 hours away and they went above and beyond to help me get checked in a tad bit early. Extremely friendly. Loved the place!!!

When I booked, I didn't expect much although reading reviews that said the property was clean, was my biggest reason I considered Motel Ely. We had to book a three-bed room; the price was the same as for a one-bed so I went ahead & did that; it wasn't a problem. The bathroom was clean. There was NO service while we were staying & I'm not sure if that had been stated in the information on the Expedia site. As crazy as it may sound, I banged my toes into the bed frames many times because the supports stick out & having just had surgery two weeks ago for a toe injury, I was annoyed. IF you are a family booking into Motel Ely, thinking three Q-size beds is a great help, please know the room has ONE TV in the room with two beds but the channels are pretty sketchy; good thing we always have reading material & our laptops; lighting was minimal. There really are no other "amenities." As for being close to the Wolf and Bear Centers, they are & there is a park nearby. There are several restaurants on the main road but if you're not interested in bar food, be forewarned. We found ONE place for breakfast on Friday morning. No one in the office was around much to help answer questions; they had very few attractions to recommend; few advertisements for them. There is a gas station across the street. It's an old property; the parking lot can barely accommodate today's vehicles so if you're pulling a boat, plan on parking on the street.

Feels like an old-school "motor inn" 😃. Rooms are small and very basic, but they have beds and clean bathrooms (the bathroom was updated and nicer than expected!). Air-conditioning, TV, fridge & coffee pot! In Ely, if all you want to do is lounge in a room, this is maybe not the place for you. But if you just want a clean, quiet place to sleep & clean up, this is perfect! Plus, I asked for recommendations for places to eat breakfast & dinner. I was given several recommendations for each. We stayed on the list and all places were fabulous!!! We had a great stay!!
