Beautiful resort in Galena IL

The ski resort is beautiful in the fall with the trees changing. Having a drink on the deck looking over the Mississippi was special. It’s an older resort; we had to go down several stairs then up a few stairs to get to our room. The toilet and sink are very low. As older people, one using a cane, these issues caused some barriers. No elevator. I should have asked for another room , but the room was spacious, clean and comfortable.

The rooms are not extremely modern and there is not an elevator to get to floors but it was very clean and everyone was very friendly! Lots to do!

Restaurant lady with attitude

Everything was okay, the only issue we had was when we had breakfast at their restaurant, food was good, but when I asked this lady to split the check in two cards, she couldn't do it, she told us there was an error with our debit card. Hours later we found out she was the one who made the mistake. So why was she giving us attitude? making us feel our card wasn't working. She never apologized.

We recently stayed here for our wedding night, to say we were disappointed would be an understatement. we booked thru a 3rd party for the room, there was no mention of any additional charges on that 3rd party booking site or the hotel's website. So imagine my surprise when we were immediately hit with an "incidentals" charge for $125 dollars, and the front desk woman made it very clear we couldn't check in without paying this, I tried to explain to her that I have already paid for the room in full on this 3rd party site and was told " well that's our policy and you can't check in without paying it. it will be returned immediately upon check out " So we had no choice but to keep the reservation for our room, to then only be told there are no elevators on the property and my disabled husband and I were going to have to climb 3 flights of stairs to our room, when I attempted to inquire about a change to a lower level i was told they were "fully booked". So we tried to make the best or our wedding night, the room was overpriced, showed signs of previous water damage, a tiny bathroom that only fits one person at a time, no screen on the window so even if we wanted fresh air we couldn't have it, bed linens that didn't even cover the mattress completely and a half filled hot tub that no one seemed to care was empty. The only high point was the excellent service we received from Vanessa at the resort restaurant for our wedding night meal. We still haven't gotten our money back.

We had a wonderful visit, the property was very well maintained, the rooms comfortable, and the attractions were fun. The only 2 complaints we have is that we found out on the last day that they offer complimentary breakfast, it is not listed on the website for hotel amenities and no one told us when we checked in. The staff said they end up throwing away a lot of breakfast food and it probably because none of the guests know about it. Also the staff members manning the top of alpine slide and the zip line were rude. The young man running the zipline was loudly complaining to the customers about hating being there, wanting to go home, how frustrated he was that people kept coming to ride (there were like 6 people total there at the time), and he kept wishing people would be over the weight limit so he doesnt have to let them ride.

Well maintained property for how old it is. The rooms were a little outdated but nonetheless very clean and well maintained. Staff was very friendly. I would highly recommend friends and family to stay here.

The property is older but that fits the Galena vibe. It's clean, staff is very nice and accomodating, and overall it's quiet and relaxing.

There were two things only that I didn’t like. There are no elevators and I had to drag my suitcase up steps to my room. Also, the toilet was dinky. My knees were higher than my waist when I was on it. Kinda rough on a 75 year old. The rest of the stay was wonderful!

Fun for the whole family. Was staying at this hotel for a wedding. Views were excellent. The only issue with this hotel would be the lack of an elevator. If you don't book a ground floor room, be prepared to walk some stairs. Still worth it.
