Seeking a charming cabin with a spectacular view of the Smokies that is actually IN Gatlinburg? You’ve just found it!

Surrounded by forest, looking onto the Great Smoky Mountains, and with delightful amenities such as an outdoor hot tub, an indoor jetted tub, and a stone fireplace, Bear Hugs will have you in the mood for romance—or relaxation.

Yet, while the log cabin feels tucked away from it all, it’s hardly remote. Downtown Gatlinburg, with its entertainment, shopping, and restaurants, is only a five-minute car ride away. The main entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is also just a short drive away, as are golf courses, Dollywood, Rocky Top Sports World, and so much more. You’ll be delighted by Bear Hugs as soon as you pull up into the drive. A true log cabin with a chalet-style cathedral ceiling, it rises on stilts to offer spectacular views of the Smokies from the deck that spans the width of the house.

The interior of Bear Hugs is just as inviting as the exterior. The wood floor, walls, and ceiling cocoon you with warmth and charm. Guests will enjoy the quality leather furnishings, original art, antique persian rug, 50 inch HDTV with cable, and a cozy fire on those chilly days and evenings! Of course Bear Hugs has internet access! The comfortable leather living room sofa converts into a bed for two with a memory foam mattress, so that the house can sleep up to four people in all.

The hand-crafted dining table seats four people as well. You can look out the large windows to the mountains as you enjoy your meal, so that you’ll almost feel as if you’re dining alfresco.

The kitchen is equipped with all new stainless steel appliances, coffee maker, cookware, and tableware. Should you want to barbecue, there’s a charcoal grill outside as well. Among other conveniences, the cabin has its own washer and dryer, so you can both pack light and return home with a suitcase full of clean clothes (isn’t having to do laundry as soon as you get back the worst?).

The master suite is on the main level along with the living/dining area and the kitchen. Decorated in the same comfortably rustic style as the rest of the home, the suite includes a king-size bed, a TV, and a bathroom complete with jetted tub. When you arrive you’ll find the bed freshly made and laundered towels ready and waiting, so if you want to unwind with a bath or a nap as soon as you arrive, you can.

There’s a half bath upstairs on the loft level, convenient if you have overnight guests. Also upstairs is a pool table and commercial arcade that operates without any quarters! Great for rainy days!

Because Bear Hugs is located in the forty-three acre Black Bear Falls Log Home Community, when you stay you can take advantage of the resort’s two heated swimming pools, one of which is a kiddie pool, from Memorial Day to Labor Day. There’s also a poolside lounge area and a clubhouse with free WiFi.

Great Experience

The property needs some updating. There were spider web above the fridge and it needed some attention to detail in cleaning. Overall a good place to stay for the price. Bed was comfortable.

Cute Cabin in a Great Location
The pros: The cabin is in a nice mountainside neighborhood and close to downtown Gatlinburg. It's a cute place and has a working hot tub, pool table, and video arcade (not sure what to call it) for entertainment. Another pro is that there is a 1/2 bath upstairs which is convenient for those using the video game and pool table. Communication with the host Dave was great as he responded to our questions very quickly. We arrived in Gatlinburg an hour before check-in and we appreciated that he let us enter the cabin at 3:00 rather than having to kill time. The cons: First impression is that the cabin felt unclean. The large windows were very dirty and looked as if they hadn't been cleaned in years and the downstairs bathroom had a heavy smell of urine. The pool table was very fun to use, but the leather nets were not completely attached, so the balls would hit the wood floor and scare us every time. lol Unlike most vacation rentals, they did not supply a little coffee (there were some filters in the cupboard, though) to get our day started, so we needed an immediate trip to the store. This cabin has the potential to be an excellent place to stay if then owners spend some time on maintenance and updating of the decor. A word of caution - be bear-aware at all times. We had a very large black bear visit the driveway below us the first morning of our arrival.

Great location!
The cabin location was perfect - close to everything but in a quiet neighborhood. The cabin itself was very nice but needs a little TLC. The microwave door handle was broken. There is no screen on the window in the bedroom. The windows in the living area need a good cleaning, as do all windowsills. There is no privacy while in the hot tub, as it’s on the side of the cabin where the road goes by, and there are other cabins across the road. These are really quite minor issues, and we would stay here again.

Took my girlfriend for her first time to stay in Gatlinburg, she loved it! We seen a bear from the porch our first night! The property was clean, cabin was beautiful and in a quiet/peaceful neighborhood. Looking forward to staying here again!

I gave this place a 5 star overall only because of the locals and the area itself. As far as the cabin goes very it’s outdated needs repairs it was dirty spiderwebs in windows n doors windows dirty asf master bed is cheap and squeaky some of the hot tub jets didn’t work the pool table is to close to walls you can’t shoot in some spots and the pockets are broken the balls literally fall out of the pocket and roll down the stairwell. Trash behind the cabin and I mean not A little bit a lot of trash . And the host omg no type of communication what so ever .. I mean he has two ways to contact him one threw email and his phone but that was for emergencies only so you will literally have to wait for him check his email for him to contact you back but anyways we had to leave early due to the storms I messaged him because this is an emergency and guess what didn’t call back didn’t respond To emails I mean I left voicemail and everything and he did nothing thank God it wasn’t life threatening.. and I feel Like I should have been compensated for the day I wasn’t there since it was due to a hurricane but guess what Expedia reached out to him and he told them nope no refund not even for the day I wasn’t there . Cool place for newlyweds but the attention to detail of the cabin itself and the professionalism of the host is pathetic…. But I Loved the locals there so friendly and the scenery itself is the bomb . But I would not recommend this cabin ….

Perfect Smoky Mountain Get-Away
The view of the mountains from the front porch alone is spectacular. The cabin had all the amenities we needed throughout our 4 night stay. Everything was clean, all the light switches are labeled (which was incredibly helpful), and the entertainment options are great. About a 10-15 minute drive to the Gatlinburg strip and the national park, a wonderful location for traveling with a small group of friends or loved ones. Looking forward to staying in these beautiful cabins again!

Cute but bare
Nice space and very clean overall. We were a little disappointed to arrive to little to no toiletries or cooking supplies. We've rented at a few places now and this is definitely a first to not even have salt and pepper. Several of the games were missing pieces or had broken parts so not very family friendly if you have smaller kids. Hosts also never responded when we tried to let them know about damages found when we arrived.

Great anniversary!!!
My husband and I booked Bear Hugs for our 18th anniversary, we haven't been many places together alone, this was fantastic! Pretty well stocked kitchen, everything worked good except the Jacuzzi tub 😆, that was an experience all within itself, at least trying to turn it off, as it was shooting water everywhere. Hot tub was nice and well enjoyed. We visited Ripleys aquarium, the island, many shops and all in all had an amazing, very memorable experience! We would definitely come back!

Lovely Family Vacation
We loved staying at Bear Hugs with our family of 4! It was perfect location to everything! The only “complaint” we had was there were lots of spider webs in the bedroom/bathroom. We killed a few spiders, but understand it’s a cabin in the woods. The only other thing was the electronic lock was hard to use to lock up. We didn’t receive instruction on how to lock it, so it was trial and error. One day we thought it locked and came home to an unlocked cabin. The door/lock seemed to not be super compatible and could stand to be upgraded. Would suggest instructions for locking up in check in emails. Otherwise highly recommend! We plan to be back!
