Where to start…a nice feature to add, would be that once your home is cleaned and ready, to get a text from house keeping that it’s available. Yet, we do understand, that check in was not til 4pm! When we arrived, it was clean, but could’ve been better. The fans all have a years worth of of dust built up, and of course fans are a must with the heat and humidity. The carpets had white dog hair all over them, so much that my son who is still crawling, was covered in hair every time I put him down. Another recommendation that I made, is both my crawler and myself were cut by the carpet tack strip because the carpet is so worn down connecting to the tile in the kitchen. The other recommendation was that the bathroom needs updating! The shower is full of mold, and the vanity is very old.
This next part is what we were most upset with because our trip had to be cut short by 2 nights! On day one, we noticed a few bugs in the kitchen, but I just wiped them with Clorox wipes, no worries, I expect bugs! On day two, I informed Lewis Realty and they said they would get someone out there, they were not able to make it til the next morning. The bug guy was awesome! Came in, checked it out, took a sample, as the bugs looked like a mite of some kind, but he wasn’t sure what it was exactly, so he didn’t want to start spraying random chemicals which we appreciated! While we were waiting on the call back as to what the mite was to be treated, we discovered that there was an infestation of these mites all around the house! Our clothes were all covered with these mites swarming them! The main areas were the kitchen, living room, master bedroom, and bathroom! They were even all over our toothbrushes and shampoo bottles!! *YUCK* my husband decided to go under the house to investigate with the bug exterminator, and they found open areas in the carport which clearly had been invaded by birds!! We then noticed the beautiful birds chirping we had been hearing were in the walls and under the flooring! We called Lewis Realty to inform them of the infestation, and they were BEYOND helpful! They offered to launder all our infested clothes and brought supplies to contain the other belongings that couldn’t be laundered. They then setup a conference call with the home owners. The outcome of the call, is that we had to leave by that next morning, so they could treat the house. Originally the owners only wanted to refund us one night, but thankfully Lewis got us a 2 day refund.
