Aloha! We are excited to share our condo with you for your beautiful trip to Maui and we would like to make your vacation as enjoyable as possible. The unit is supplied with all of the things we had hoped to find in a vacation rental, including lots of spices, new cookware and dishes and even zip lock baggies, tin foil and Q tips (to get the sand out of your ears !!). The goal is to save our guests some expense and eliminate the need for packing such items in your travel luggage.
Our newly purchased and completely remodeled unit in sunny South Kihei is in the heart of the beach town within walking distance to world class beaches, restaurants, bars, and shops. There are many days you may find that a car is not necessary. The Island Surf Building has a delis, dive shop, bike rentals, day spas, surf shop, and other convenient businesses located on the first floor. It is across the street from Kalama Beach Park where one can either watch or participate in basketball, roller blading, skate boarding, sand volleyball, snorkeling, surfing, paddle boarding, and fishing.
"The Cove", located just across the street, is well known to be the best beginner surf and/or paddle boarding area on the island. Rental gear and/or excellent instructors are conveniently located at the new Maui Wave Rider surf store across the street. One can easily enjoy watching your friends and family play in the ocean or at the park from the private lanai.
Whale season is between November and April, and the whales are easy to spot from this unique, top floor lookout. There are no power lines, poles, or other buildings obstructing your view.
Our top floor condo is bright and provides direct, unobstructed Pacific Ocean views and sunsets every evening via the floor to ceiling glass wall in the living room/kitchen. From the lanai you can see the Islands of Lanai, Kaho'olawe, and Molokini crater. New double pane glass throughout the unit provides silence when you want it, and the huge sliding glass door to the 16 foot Lanai brings the outside in when you choose.
Our unit is one of only four top floor vacation rental units facing west that allows viewing the incredible westerly sunsets regardless of the time of year you visit!!
You are also in a great location for day trips to Haleakala, Hana, Lahaina /Kaanapali, and Wailea.
The airport is conveniently located within 30 minutes of The Island Surf and thus "coming and going" is both quick and easy.

We enjoy a close friendship with the owners of the adjoining 6th floor unit who also own a unit on the 4th floor, thus we can possibly jointly offer wedding party/family reunion/special occasion accommodations with sleeping accommodations for up to 10 people.

OU reviews for seven plus years have been incredible have been incredible. It is legally licensed for a vacation rental, Hawaiian Tax ID 011-116-5440-01.
In regard to the official tax ID number, regardless of where you stay, make sure your condo owner provides you their number to you before you book. Condo owners that do not provide their tax number are often not licensed and are probably operating illegally. Please be careful, the state of Hawaii has recently emphasized enforcing this and you may find yourself without a place to stay when you arrive. IE Kauai recently closed 320 non-permitted vacation rentals with only two weeks notice and guests were left without accommodations.
Whether you stay at Island Surf or elsewhere on Maui, please do some research and check this out before making reservations.

Perfect spot in Kihei
My husband and I stayed here for a month, over Christmas and New Years. We would come back again and stay at Steve and Vicki's place for sure!The location is so excellent, walking distance to beaches, restaurants and shops. A bonus is the South Maui Gardens is right behind the condo, so convenient. The building has a great Sushi restaurant and a massage salon on the first floor. You are also less than 2 blocks from the Foodland for groceries. If you stay further down Kihei road (north) you will be far away from the heart of Kihei and there are no sidewalks near the end of the road, not safe for walking, especially at night. This area is a busy location, however, Steve put in heavy duty sliding balcony doors, you do not hear noise from the busy Kihei road (unless your doors are open). Other condos do not have that, my sister stayed on a 5th floor VRBO and she was impressed by the difference it made!The condo is stocked with anything you could think of and more. Great furniture that's actually comfortable (living room and bedroom). Great beach chairs with umbrella.Steve and Vicki are also very attentive and answer quickly if you need anything. Highly recommend this condo, you won't be disappointed, only when you have to leave!

Wonderful location and easy stay!
We had a great time at this condo with our 5 month old. The beach was super convenient and having beach toys, umbrella, and a pack and play made it so easy to stay here. The grocery store and a number of restaurants are also a very short walk away, so we barely needed to drive other than visiting the national park!

We had a fantastic time at our new favorite Maui condo. Steve is fantastic to work with. The community both in the condominium and the local area is very accepting of those of us visiting. Parking was easy and free. The beach, surfing, good eats, shopping are all just a 5 minute walk away.

Great location and beautiful view
Gorgeous condo! The view is stunning! The pictures don’t do it justice. Condo is very clean and well stocked, has everything you could need including beach towels, chairs, and umbrellas. Plenty of parking! Walkable to many restaurants and super close to great beaches. We had an issue our first day and Steve was very prompt in communicating with us and resolving the situation. I would definitely recommend staying here and would stay again without hesitation!

My wife and I stayed for 7 days in this unit. Location was awesome. So convenient as there are many amenities within a short walking distance. The huge food truck area and gathering place was almost literally right behind and beside the complex which was a very nice surprise. Parking was easy. Two elevators near the entrance. The unit was close to the elevators. The unit is on the top floor which did provide an amazing view especially the sunsets. Breakfast every morning on the lanai was awesome. The a/c is split between the living room and bedroom which worked amazing in cooling and/or keeping the unit cool. However, with the lanai doors and entrance door open (leaving screen door closed) there was a significant breeze that swept through the unit which kept it cool enough most times that the a/c was not needed. Virtually no noise from street below. Very quiet at night even with the doors open. Bed was perfect. Not too soft. As for the unit accompaniments, this is hands down the most well stocked condo we have ever stayed in anywhere! This place has absolutely everything you can think of that you may use during your stay in Maui. The kitchen is the best stocked we have ever seen and very nice. I would suggest a coffee press. There is every beach item you will ever need. Chairs, umbrella, all water activity items included. Oh, and we did not see 1 bug. Not only would I recommend this unit, we will be looking forward to returning to Steve and Vicki's awesome condo in paradise.

Perfect view and location
This was an amazing condo for our stay in Kihei. The view from the lanai is stunning - postcard perfect! Being on the top (6th) floor gets you up above the utility cables that run along the street, that would take away from the view on the lower floors. We sat there for hours, whale watching, taking many pictures of the beautiful sunsets, and watching the activity across the road at Kalama Park (volleyball, surfing, paddle boarding). Inside, the hosts have supplied everything you would need and may not have brought - binoculars, boogie board, great beach chairs and an umbrella, water bottles, a large cooler, snorkel set, rain umbrellas, a safe, etc etc. Condo has all the appliances you’d want, including laundry, dishwasher, and fridge w/ ice maker (a must!). Two a/c units cool the main area and bedroom down quickly, but were rarely needed when we were there - just open the lanai door and the back screen door and enjoy the cool breezes. Great pool area. This condo is in a fantastic area - must be 50 restaurants and food trucks within a 5 minute walk. Paia Fish Market, Blue Door Pizza, the Lava Rock, Burger Boys and Wing Kings were our favourites in the area. Souvenir shopping right there in Kalama Mall. Short walk or drive to Foodland for groceries (hosts have provided a discount card to take with you and save a lot); convenience store right in the building, and if you’re heading out on an exploration day, it’s about 2 minutes out to the Pi’ilani Hwy. This condo is the perfect Maui getaway! Everything you need. You can’t beat the location and view from this condo. Very comfortable bed. The pool and bbq area is also very clean and big. If you enjoy being outdoors, surfing or playing volleyball book this great condo.

Beautiful condo in the perfect location!
My wife and I had the best time at Steve's condo. We spent about a week here and wished we could have stayed longer. The unit was spotless and had everything needed for short-term renters. We stocked up on a few groceries (a short walk away) and were able to enjoy some meals on the beautiful balcony overlooking the ocean and sunsets. The unit is also only a few minutes walk from many restaurants in the area one way, and a few more minutes the opposite direction to many of the local beaches (Kam 1, 2, 3). It was great having access to beach chairs, umbrella, cooler, snorkel gear etc. as well - just bring yourself and prepare for an amazing time!

Renting was easy. The hosts Steve & Vicky were easy to get in touch with if we had we questions and responded almost immediately. Loved having the free parking on the property. The unit was very well equipped. Lots of cooking equipment, utensils dishes etc. Loved having real coffee grounds provided (would have liked some milk /cream too in the fridge to get us started in the morning, especially since we arrived at close to 11:00 pm , but that’s just our personal preference) We left a full unopened bag of coffee in the freezer to replace what we used.

Incredible view
This place is amazing and we will staying here again. The condo was clean and well stocked. The bed is very comfortable and the balcony view is the best sunset view around. My wife and I spent two of the six days here just out on the balcony watching the waves, the people, and watching so many whales jump around. ( bring a good pair of binoculars ) you can walk to many stores and restaurants as well.

Island Surf Apartment
This apartment was excellent! The view and sunsets from the 6th floor lanai were exquisite! The unit is very well furnished- lots of cooking/ kitchen supplies in great shape! Modern Hawaiian decor, up to date and comfortable, super clean, quiet neighbors, very comfortable bed and high quality soft sheets and towels, lots of toys and ANYTHING you would need for the beach! Also lots of card & board games. The ceiling fans & AC were excellent, but didn’t need them much as the airflow when the doors/windows were open was excellent! We could hear the waves of the ocean when the sliding glass door to the lanai was open. The host was helpful and there are maps and lots of helpful travel books and brochures in the apt. Very centrally located for excellent restaurants, food trucks, shaved ice and a variety of shops and groceries! There is a path along the beach in the park across the street from the building. We really enjoyed walking there during the day as well as in the evening. Saw many sea turtles walking to the right up the path about 5min. There is good snorkeling and surfing places very nearby! Also a skateboarding, inline or roller skating rink, covered picnic tables, sand VB courts, bathrooms, etc, in the park. Overall we had an exellent stay and would go back any chance we can!!
