Summary
Just remodeled with new paint, new carpets, furniture and more – I had visited this unit both prior to and after the renovation and, wow, the owner’s experience managing their exceptional vacation rental on the North Shore certainly shows in the visitor-focused final touches here!
Kihei Resort 209 is a great condo for folks looking to escape the crowded resorts, but still be located minutes from the best beaches in Maui. This condo is kept meticulously clean, and the owners live on-island and are very proactive and responsive to maintenance and guest needs.
Centrally located and within walking distance to two beaches. The complex is surrounded by gardens, and is totally non-touristy and low-key. The unit itself is clean and comfortable, and the remodel included loads of brand new items besides the furniture, paint, fixtures and carpet – you will find all new linens, towels, dishes, small kitchen appliances, TV, ceiling fans, beach accessories, and the list goes on.
The unit is set well off of South Kihei Road, so you don’t have the street noise units along the roadside have. Parking is reserved and a short walk through lush tropical gardens to the unit.
Details
This unit can sleep 6 with the pull-out couch. The master bedroom is the loft-style found commonly in Maui, and is air conditioned. The master bedroom is spacious and includes a bathroom and king bed. The second bedroom is downstairs and has a queen bed.
Beaches Across the Street
There are two beaches across the street that are both off the radar of most visitors. Waipu’ilani Beach is a long white sand and coral beach protected by reef. Kalepolepo Beach Park, to the north is uncrowded and is the site of the Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary learning center. It is also home to culturally significant and the most accessible ancient Hawaiian fishpond in Maui. Both are great beaches of convenience for when you want to escape crowds, have dinner or drinks while you watch the sunset, or strike up a down-to-earth conversation with a local family.
Location
Kihei Resort is close to stores, beaches, restaurants and shops. Monsoon India is right across the street at Menehune Shores, and there are also three different shopping centers within a mile.
Other places of interest: Beachfront roller skating rink and skate park is 2 miles, Cove Park (best place for surf lessons) is 2.25 miles, Kamaole Beach Park is 2.5 miles, Keawakapu Beach is 3.75 miles, Wailea is 4 miles, Big Beach/Little Beach is 8 miles. The airport is 10 miles.
The Property
Kihei Resort is a residential garden-style complex built around meticulously maintained beautiful tropical gardens and water features in a courtyard setting. There is a small and typically uncrowded pool (The three times I have been there, there have been between 0 and 1 users there.)
Most units are resident occupied, so it’s a great option if you’re not into the overly-touristy thing and would like to mingle with some local residents of Maui. Residents at Kihei Resort enjoy the gardens, and chatting, so you’re sure to meet some residents eager to share their knowledge of Maui with you!
