Average experience overall. Cons: Our stay needed renovation - wooden rollup blinds did not work properly, very little privacy due to the blinds and glass windows, wooden sliding doors were off the hinges and did not close properly, many kitchen items were dirty/dusty, TV drawer had DVDs but was also filled with random dusty cables and other items. Pros: Great location as a midpoint to visit different parts of the island. Plenty of parking with easy check-in and check-out. Laundry area is a plus (though you need to provide your own detergent). Friendly staff.

The overall property is excellent, beautiful, well kept. The Pool and BBQs were used every day. Easy access to the bike/walking path to Lydgate beach. Our unit, # one one two was terrible. Old, broken wooden, heavy sliding shutters for the main windows viewing the ocean. So no privacy. Its screen had to be fixed. Most of the window roll-up curtains did NOT work. The kitchen is outdated, most drawers did not open easily. The kitchen sink was broken and had to be fixed. this was important because the dishwasher was broken! Most of the fan and light switches were failing or hard to adjust. I was getting shocked by the light fixture in the middle bathroom. This unit ONLY had a beautiful view, NOTHING else to brag about.

My family which includes my wife, 8 year old handicapped son, and au pair stayed at Castle Hana for 9 nights. I purchased two oceanfront rooms. Overall, the location is great. Rooms were ok considering they are condos. This is all the positive i can really say. Here were our issues. 1. We checked in around 10pm on a Saturday night. Security was at the front desk. Although I purchased 2 rooms, they only had one room for us. We moved everything into one room which had only one bed. The property manager would not take our calls. The security could do nothing. Turns out, the second room was in our au pairs name. 2. Our rooms were supposed to be ocean front with an ocean view. Instead our rooms were both in front of the pool and there was no ocean view. If Expedia were setup like VRBO, I could’ve selected an exact unit. Either way, this was not what I paid for. Expedia receipt actually says ocean view. 3. The beach was filled with debris and the water is too rough to swim in. 4. When booking or at no time did the property alert us they were pressure washing and painting the property during our stay. 5. The pool had a heater they never turned on the the ocean was actually warmer. 6. Having no air conditioning is fine until the dozens of cats routinely fight around 3am. 7. The property is non-smoking. Someone in our building was smoking every night. The security guard woke us at 10am trying to catch the smokers. We were all asleep.

What we liked about this property exterior was well-groomed and landscaped. Property was beach side and walkable to other nearby beaches. What we didn't like were roosters waking us up at early hours of the mornings! Property accommodation unit was dated and dirty. We strongly believe the cost paid for our stay should have included more amenities and at least a clean unit prior to and during our stay!

Ocean view was fantastic. Condo was large and well laid out. Walkway that spanned the property and adjoining parks was great! Pool was small, but under utilized by others, so it was easy to use. Breeze cools the unit so AC is not required. However, a lot of condensation at night. Cleaning policy does not make it suitable for longer stays - garbage builds up; floors were gross. Would recommend for short stay (2-3 nights).

Nice property with ocean front rooms; nice ocean breeze and ocean sounds thru out day and night. Clean property with security walking around after hours. Plenty of parking. Clean, good sized, gated pool with shower next to it. Some homeless (I assume) walking around but they didn't bother people from what I saw; did see a tent or 2 on the sand. Nice area with a soccer field, park, etc in walking distance. Lots of nice greenery and feral chickens, roosters. Condo was nice and spacious enough. Could have been slightly more updated. Had old, worn, spotty upholstery on the dining chairs (looked similar to mold spots). The pull out couch bed mattress needed to be replaced as my poor kids didn't notice but I'm sure they were probably sleeping on the springs; mattress was nice and worn. Dirty looking spots on everything like carpets, handles, fridge door, etc...looks like rust or just yuck but it's the red colored sand/volcanic rocks...no AC which was fine as the open windows and sliding door allowed for plenty of cool ocean breeze to come in BUT the ceiling fans should be replaced as they are peeling and not aesthetically pleasing...I turned them off at one point and thought I saw either a bunch of dirt and dust piled on it or insulation (random I know but that's what came to mind)...I then realized it was just the warped fan blades. Otherwise good stay here with no real complaints!

Lovely, low key and mellow spot that feels like your own little vacation condo! Close to grocery shopping and a small local town and only 45 minute drive from larger cities and hotter tourist spots. The pool and bbq were an amazing edition to our already full kitchen in our room and staff was helpful but not intrusive. We loved that it didn’t feel like a hotel, but rather your own space. Amazing and affordable!

Beds were very uncomfortable. No AC. The room was super hot and humid. Room was very outdated and didn’t match the pictures online at all. No food within walking distance. No amenities. No beach/pool towels available through the resort. The fans in the room were broken. TV was difficult to operate to get to cable/movies. No washer/dryer in unit.

Great central location and the view was top notch from the balcony, however, the unit was not clean nor do they maintain it (everything is rusted, including the fridge, and some windows are rusted open) We had to clean the kitchen and bathrooms prior to us using them as it was obvious no one bothered to even wipe them down after the previous use - all this while being charged hundreds for a cleaning fee. Ants everywhere in the kitchen (can't say this is everywher, as it's not been at other properties), no working internet or TV for half our stay, the carpet in the living room is coming up and makes a trip hazard coming in from the deck. The place has great potential if they would actually clean and maintain it.

Super cute condo perfect size for my gf and I. Clean, great view, and loved how there were two bathrooms. Downfall : be ready to climb 3 levels of stairs if you’re on the 3rd floor. NO elevators. I am pregnant and had to carry my check in luggage up the staircase. Another con was the roosters. I don’t mind roosters crying in the morning because I know there’s no control over that on the islands. BUT they were crying everyday at 3am nonstop. Our windows weren’t really windows…? It was more like a screen with blinds so there was nothing we could do to close the ‘windows’ to prevent the noises from the roosters. Other than that, it was an amazing place and great price.

We especially enjoyed the decorative Hawaiian touches inside our unit. We loved all of the beach toys and outing equipment that was left in the hallway closet for us to use and enjoy. The close proximity to the beach and a beautiful swimming pool was really nice, as were the grills at the pool area. We had a beautiful view of the sunrise every morning. The tiki torches at night were always a welcome sight to enjoy too.

Perfectly located close to the airport and shopping areas, multiple restaurants options, property is meticulously maintained with access to private beach and pool, we will definitely come back again
