I liked this hotel and have stayed there several times a year over the past ten years, but I WILL NEVER STAY THERE AGAIN. I accidentally made a reservation online via Expedia for the wrong date (i.e. tonight, as opposed to tomorrow night which I meant) ... I called the manager on duty at the hotel within 10 minutes after making the reservation, and they refused to make a change to tomorrow night. They said it was against their policy. REALLY?!? A simple date mistake on my part and they steal over a $100 from me?!? This would have been the simplest fix in the world of customer service. It's beyond comprehension. What the hell is wrong with the management at this hotel? NEVER STAYING THERE AGAIN. Expedia also tried, but got the same answer - so it's not Expedia's fault ... this is strictly a bad management team at the individual hotel stealing money from any client who books thru Expedia (and makes a very common date mistake). Reprehensible.

The hotel was nice and clean enough, there were some minor repairs required i.e. the ice maker in the fridge in the room was broken, the door to the room stuck and was hard to open.

Diamond in the gem
We were in town for a funeral, and by far, this was the best hotel we have stayed in in a long time. Staff was extra friendly, room was extra clean, the suite had so much room to offer.

We have stayed here a few times before and all was excellent. The previous rooms were all great. The room we were given on our last stay was not great. Dust on lamps and headboard. Carpet very warm. Dried blood on back of bathroom door. We were only one night so we never made a fuss but disappointment.

We had a room on 2nd floor by the elevator. At 3:00am we heard very loud banging coming from the elevator area. We reported it to the front desk and didn’t hear back from them. In the morning, we noticed someone had been banging on the pop vending machine, as there were broken pieces everywhere, and the keyhole had been drilled out. No security, someone just walked right in and tried breaking into the machine. Not safe.

We've stayed at the Hawthorn a few times because of location and helpful staff. This time, we didnt take advantage of the complimentary breakfast, but previously, it was very good...just like a restaurant breakfast.
