This little house has a gorgeous view of Anawanda Lake. There are 2 kayaks at the house to use. It has excellent WiFi and the cell reception is good (we have Verizon, it worked well). Area is very peaceful and quiet. Owners were attentive and responsive.
Some things to think about/plan for:
1. The kitchen is very small. Don't plan to make big meals in it. There is really only room for 1 adult.
2. The house is small. We would recommend 2 adults max. Can't imagine 4 adults in this house.
3. Microwave is very small and low wattage -- don't plan to cook in it, only reheat. The micro is missing the rotating plate, but we used a salad plate from the wall rack and it worked perfectly.
4. There is a musty/dank smell in the house. Bring candles to alleviate the smell.
5. It is perpetually damp in the house. There is a dehumidifer. We ran it 24/7, and had to empty it 2-3 times a day. All clothing/towels were damp the entire week -- like if you were camping.
6. Mattresses -- Bring your own mattress pad (they have none in the house). Also a mattress topper would bring you extra support and comfort.
7. Bring a bathmat for the shower.
8. Another reviewer mentioned this -- but the house is very dark at night because of low wattage bulbs (there are plenty of lights, though). If you like lots of light, bring some higher wattage bulbs.
We enjoyed watching the bald eagle, the hummingbirds, the fish ripples in the water. Sunsets were spectacular. Tons of stars to view at night. Friendly neighbors. Really a lovely place to spend a week.
Drinks at Catskills Hills, burgers at The Cabin, Catskills Brewery, and definitely make plans to go to Bethel Woods to see the Woodstock Museum. It was very well done and the grounds are exceptional.
We would go back!
