We loved our overnight stay at the perfectly retro Sunset Motel! Really comfy, A/C worked great, TV channels lovely, bathroom & vanity area. The front desk manager was so sweet, and we got a grab bag of baked goods and tangerines from their local baker in town for the next morning. :)

This was a delightful stay in the middle of our road trip. The staff were friendly and the rooms were very clean. It was nice to unwind on their cute patio area.

Our Favorite Place to Stay in the Whole World

The Sunset Motel is our favorite place to stay in the whole world and we have travelled to a lot of phenomenal places. It just never disappoints. I love the goodnight kisses and the rubber ducky. The grounds are artsy. I love the mid-century vibe and the Route 66 component. A lot of love goes into maintaining this special motel.

The room was clean and big enough for two large dogs. The staff was very nice and helpful. Had a very nice patio to sit and enjoy the evening with our dogs.

Sweet place to stay

It was a very nice place to stay the people there are kind, caring, considerate, and loving. It is a very old hotel however it was clean cozy and comfortable. I will definitely stay here again and I highly recommend it The pictures on the website are pretty accurate.

The rooms are from the 50's with a modern twist. Right on old hwy 66, traffic was a bit noisy most of the night. Breakfast was a goodie bag at checkin with rolls and fruit.

Charming vintage furnishings. Beautiful exterior. Clean and comfortable rooms. No bad odors and no smoke smells. Smelled fresh. Had everything needed. Plenty of hot water and towels. Super comfortable beds and plenty of comfortable pillows. Convenient location. Convenient delicious breakfast in a to-go bag of fruit and muffins and bear claw. Friendly hospitable staff. Only the coffeemaker did not puncture hole in Kcup to properly fill with water.

Little gem on Route 66. Needed a place to stay between visiting Petrified Forest and Carlsbad Caverns National Parks. Not much is there between Moriarty and Roswell, NM, so this location was perfect. Having a 2-room, 3-bed suite (Room 16) was just what our family needed. This is not your typical motel - rooms are well taken care of and property is in a great shape. We all enjoyed pastries we got at the check-in.

We do not usually stay in motels with the doors on the outside for safety reasons. I loved the reviews this motel had and it was quaint in New Mexico. I called about getting in very late and the owner said she would leave the light on for our room, and the key inside. Very gracious and because she was willing to do that, I felt comfortable with the area, sight unseen. The room is retro which was so appealing but ours had a funky odor to it. The bed was great, pleanty of towels and the layout with the additional sink was so nice. They may need to invest in updating the carpet. We did park right outside our door.

Would stay again

Cute family run motel. Nice welcome. Only complaint was that the walls are fairly thin. Had to listen to next room occupants talk for quite awhile.
