This property is a death trap! To get to our room we had to go up numerous timber carpeted stairs,turning left & right, through numerous corridors so narrow only one person could pass at a time. We ended up in an attic, with no escape route. the windows were sealed shut & the so called Fire Exit was a narrow timber carpeted stairs which led down within the building to the corridoor below, along this corridor was an exit door to a felt roof! No way were we going to stay in this room! My husband has trouble with stairs & would be totaly nervous in case of fire, After making many wrong turns on the way down, I found the reception & demanded a change of room, I was given another room 1 floor down. It was just as complicated to find our way to it, but it was next to a fire exit which led to the road behind.We used this exit for the duration. No way would this hotel pass Fire Saftey standards in Ireland, it would be closed down instantly!

Thank you for your feedback. The Old Custom House is an historic building which, of course was never originally built as a hotel. There are various corridors through the building and some rooms are on higher floor levels than others. We meet all fire and safety regulations. I hope that you will book to stay with us again. I would recommend that you ring us to make your booking and we will do our best to offer you a room that is on a lower level.

Comfortable hotel right in the harbour.

Pros: Location and Large room
Cons: Access to rooms is steep and narrow. The hotel is quite expensive
Location: Right in the centre of Padstow so plenty to do in the town and surrounding area
The hotel is situated right in the harbour and does not have a car park. We were lucky to get parked in the public car park opposite which cost £8 for 24 hours. Access to the rooms was via a narrow staircase which made carrying suitcases difficult. The room was large and well equipped but a bit expensive. Downstairs is a busy bar which serves typical pub food - nothing special. Breakfast was good.

Good location, great veiws from the room, good breakfast. Parking a bit difficult but we found best option was to initially park in the link road car park where there are loads of spsces and them move it to the Harbour car park (directly outside) later in the day,
