SEMI-SOUNDFRONT Rodanthe - Cross of Honor Way - This playful cottage with spectacular views, comfortable decor and thoughtful amenities will fill your every vacation need. Among the many extras you'll find at SALTY DAWG are an all-weather entry, hot tub with astounding sound views, access to community tennis court, hammock with sound view and the private swimming pool with cabana house. The first level of the home features a large king bedroom suite with sound view, and semi-private bath with double vanity and Jacuzzi tub. Also on this level is another king bedroom with ocean view and semi-private bath with double vanity, and two more bedrooms (2 singles, 2 sets of bunks). Step up to the second level for the great room with separate living area complete with sliders to the soundside deck and 6-person hot tub, large attractive windows with beautiful sound views, wet bar with ice machine, powder room, TV, and stereo. Up a few steps is a breakfast nook with table and wraparound windows for ocean to sound views. The kitchen is well stocked with seating at the bar to compliment the separate dining area. So come on down and bring your SALTY DAWG.

Note: Something new is coming to Rodanthe! A new bridge is being constructed on the northern end of Rodanthe. This exciting and new addition, commonly referred to as the Jug Handle Bridge, is now visible from this home.

problems
first off first night tried to use hot tub but the railing around it was broke, also our kids was swing in the play area they show and the board left loose and fell with ladders and everything else they had up there luckily they wasn't hurt. We called and no one got ahold of us til halfway through our trip. then we had mold in the washer, and 2 days it rained, we was setting on the couch watching a movie and the roof started leaking really bad everywhere. We took videos it was crazy. Called again talked to someone said they was going to send someone out. they never did because the second time when it rained it happened again. We feel we should get some money back for this, but that won't happen. I would look elsewhere to stay.

Black Mold and Overall Dirty
Positive aspects: what appeared to be newer, comfortable mattress for both king beds. Location to beach and access to highway 12 was perfect. Nice quiet neighborhood and beautiful sunsets. Room for improvement: there was black mold coming out of all HVAV vents. The house, carpet, and furniture were extremely dirty, needing an overall deep clean. We would have left due to these factors but my son was very excited for this trip after a hard year. To stay I had to buy swiffer to clean the floor in the kitchen/dining area and bought blankets to cover the couches. Also cleaned overall surfaces in areas we were using. It was disappointing to have to clean the space when this was not part of the agreement. Also the black mold was concerning. Tried to spend as much time outside as possible.

The black mold coming out of most of the HVAC vents made my wife pack the family up and leave after 2 days. It also didn’t look like a cleaning service had visited before our stay.

Great two week stay!
The location was great! The house was awesome- the pool and jacuzzi were super clean. Nice little walk to s-turns to surf, or to play pickleball. Would definitely come back:)
