Bed was comfortable. I didn't like climbing 3 flights of stair with all of my luggage. I wasn't told there was no elevator. Also, I paid extra for a partial ocean view, and I couldn't even see it from the room. I had to go outside and turn my head to the sharp left to see the ocean. No coffee makers in the room. Little as far as amenities.

We got the partial ocean view king. We were checking in late due to a concert we attended in the area. We basically wanted to hear the ocean and wake up to beautiful views. Check in was awkward, the front desk first said they couldn’t find our reservation even though I did their own suggested online check in. He stood there waiting for me to pull up a confirmation. Then didn’t apologize when he realized his mistake. We asked for late check out, but he didn’t put it in notes so we had calls in the morning from front desk and maid service at our door. The partial view was a joke. We were in the very back of property near highway and all we could hear was cars zooming by. Yes we could see the ocean looking over several properties. Definitely not worth paying extra for partial ocean view. Bright side, bed was comfy but experience was sub par for a coastal stay.

The view from our room was beautiful. The outside firepits and seating was incredible. The rooms however do need to be updated. Lighting was terrible, furnishings were dated and damaged. The room was very clean just tired.

I absolutely love sitting on the patio and watching the pelicans fly back and forth across the water, along with all the other little birds flying about. Nothing starts your day off better than having your morning coffee in such a peaceful atmosphere with the smell and sound of the ocean and the cool misty morning.

Paved walkway along the cliff bluff with access to stairs to a white sandy beach. Gas fireplaces along the cliff bluff. Walk to dining or a small drive to the pier. With dining, shopping and beaches. Room was spacious, sleeping sofa. Refrigerator, TV. A balcony with a view of the ocean. Easy free parking. Restaurant in parking lot. Gas station across the street.

Very friendly reception staff, nice bleach smell in linens and room reassured us that the room is clean. The bathroom needs updating. The carpet needs replacing or shampooing and the room door has quite a gap around the door frame. We had a disturbing experience as someone violently shook our door trying to get in. Not sure if it was a confused inebriated person or an attempt to break in and grab a wallet etc. We were on an end unit … look all locks to be safe.

A wonderful stay
We really enjoyed our stay at the Spyglass. The front office staff was very welcoming and even let me borrow a wine bottle opener so that I could drink wine I purchased in edna Valley. Our room was very welcoming and comfortable. We enjoyed the partial ocean view from our room balcony. We enjoyed sitting at the fire pit in the evening as we enjoyed our wine.Overall, our stay was very enjoyable. Lastly, I love its proximity to the highway which made it easy to travel north and south.
