Much privacy. Short walk to restaurants and shops. Bed was comfortable. Couch was uncomfortable. Would be nice to have parking space next to the house.

Charming Place to Stay
A very nice place to stay. Pictures where very accurate as far as the rooms and surroundings of the building. Didn't use the kitchen, ate out too much......The only thing to consider when renting, the inside steps are rather steep, if you are an older person it might not be the best place for you. I would have no issues renting it again. First time staying in Saugatuck, charming town with much to do. Nice beach, good restaurants, easy to enjoy yourself here.

Short visit, good time!
At one point, we did have a problem with the tv upstairs. But we managed! It is a little dark/dim but otherwise, it was a phenomenal weekend.

Great location, with a caveat
Per my husband “the bed is not fit for human use.” It is extremely uncomfortable and along with the pillows caused a great amount of back and neck pain.

Near-perfect stay ruined by WORST BED EVER
Beautiful, quiet, and picturesque cottage with lots of charm and amazing proximity to the main section of Saugatuck. It was a pleasure to stroll up to the shops and restaurants without having to deal with parking, and the serene property is cute as heck. However, If the rest of this rental wasn’t so great, the bed alone would drop this down to 1-2 star review territory. Squeaky, clunky old bed frame that was one rough tumble away from collapsing, and a terrible, cheap, springy mattress. Seriously, I’ve stayed at scary back-country one star motels that made me afraid I was going to be axe-murdered in my sleep that had better beds and mattresses than this one. For the high price of this stay, it was certainly an unexpected level of back pain and being woken at all hours anytime one of us moved. It’s so unfortunate, because otherwise this is one of the coolest places I’ve ever stayed and should be an easy 5 star review.

The bed's were terrible. Not a good sleep and definitely overpriced mainly due to that!! Would never recommend it.

Good but some issues
I have a handful of things. One- the stairs to the the lower level is STEEP. It's not suitable for anyone w kids or older adults. If we knew those stairs would be so steep we would have picked something else out. My husband and I brought our dog (she didn't even want to take the stairs) and we stayed upstairs the whole time. Second- the basement TV the smalllllllllll. Third- with today's streaming, there was no Roku or fire stick, Xfinity tv was early 2010s. We went and bought a Roku to have something to watch. Fourth and final- ants. A lot of ants on the main countertop where the sink is. They were getting in every thing. Now a couple good things. The owner of the property is a very nice gentleman. He was kind and welcoming and checked on us when we were outside. He kept the outside really nice. The location of the place was good. I've been to MI multiple times so I know you have to drive distances but the state is so pretty and it was good weather vs the IL heat wave 2022 lol. Pls note, not all guests would want to watch TV and cook food at their rental property for the days that you're there but we wanted to mention it as it would be helpful.

What to expect ...
This darling little cottage is in a great location for walking to the harbor and downtown restaurants and shops. The bed was comfortable, and the place was clean, but there weren't many frills provided. Bring your own coffee and bottled water and expect the bar minimum for things like shampoo, conditioner, soap, etc. The amenities have a motel feel ... Clean but sparce.

Great vacation rental in Saugatuck
My parents came to visit me and my husband in Chicago and we wanted to plan a short trip to Michigan during their stay. We had never been to Saugatuck and booked the Mill based on the location to downtown. When we arrived, Erik, who lives in the home right next to the Mill, happened to be outside and greeted us. He was so kind and funny and gave us so many good tips for the area. The home was perfect for us. The one problem we had was that the mattress on the pull-out couch was a bit worn down and not terribly comfortable. We are already planning another trip to Saugatuck and will definitely stay here again.

It was a wonderful place for a couples get away. The stairs are steep so I would say make sure you can do stairs. The property was so calming and private. Located close to town and lots of wineries. Only issue we really had was Internet was weak. Will definitely be going back !!!

Historic Mill Getaway
Nice historic getaway we loved the history of the mill and thee owner was very nice and told us the history of the mill. On entering we did smell a musty odor so bought air freshener which helped, the stairs were very steep and narrow and not enjoyable to go up and down. Bed was too hard and frame was squeaky. Upstairs was fine and was clean except the rug in kitchen had a lot of dog hair on it. I wouldn't stay again just because of the stairs being steep and difficult for my arthritic husband going up and down so many times.

The Perfect Getaway!
This is a beautiful home! It's all wood and so charming. There is a beautiful pond right next to it as well as large lawn area. Our 2 dogs loved running around. All of us slept so well. It's incredibly quiet. The owner of the property Eric lives right next door. He was so nice. His father actually built the house. This place is perfect for a couple looking to get away for a few days. It's close to everything. Boats are docked nearby. There's even a small waterfall in the back. We saw so many stars at night. Be careful of the steep staircase, but once you get the hang of going down it slowly it's easy. Modern appliances, TV, laundry and one one the best showers I've ever taken. It's super clean and stocked with everything you need. I highly recommend this charming place. It's the perfect get away and super value!

Clean but lacking comfort
Location at this historic mill is great for access to downtown Saugatuck. Nice deck for your morning coffee and evening drinks. The location had the necessary amenities for your stay. It was clean but there was a lingering old musty smell that greeted you whenever you entered. We purchased a candle from a local shop and this seemed to help as a temporary fix. The mattress was also extremely uncomfortable and the bed frame was squeaky. The pillows and bed linens could also use a refresh for a more comfortable and relaxing stay. (There is also another nice house located about 6ft from the Mill, it was unoccupied during our stay.)

Fun and Beautiful Property!
We have driven by Peterson Mill many times over the years and were finally able to stay there. It's a fun and beautiful property in a great location that is almost right next door to the Southerner, one of our favorite restaurants. The owner was so friendly and accommodating and shared the history of the Mill. The mama duck and her six teenage ducklings on the pond was an added benefit!

Cute cottage.
It’s a little jaunt down to Main Street, but fur sheer cuteness, this place can’t be beat. Right on the river, the replica mill offers a picturesque place to relax either down by the mill pond, on a picnic table by the dock, or enjoying the sunny deck. The door lock system took some explaining and thankfully the owner was nearby to help me. I definitely would stay again.

Quiet, unique and historic hideaway
The little mill waterfall lulled me to sleep at night. Always something to watch on the Mill pond from Canada geese with babies, to ducks, fish and a little river otter. Great get-away if you want tranquility. Lots of parks, beaches, shopping and eateries nearby. A little further takes you to wineries, orchards, farm markets, blueberries, lavender fields, antiques. Dog friendly, but narrow, steep stairs are difficult to navigate, for dog or kids. Great that there are French doors on lower level because luggage on the stairs would be awkward. Overall a perfect spot if you don't want all the traffic and hotel extras.

The amenities need replacing. The DVD player didn’t work. The towels were cheap when they were new and needed to be replaced after too many uses. The cookware and linens were poor quality. The property manager was slow to respond to the replacing the DVD player and brought one without cords and without the needed remote for the functions to work. Not enough warm blankets.
