This hotel is in an amazing location!! 15 minute walk to downtown. 15 minute walk to the aqua boats to take you to Granville island. 20 minute walk to Stanley park and if your adventurous 30 min walk to gas town. They have an amazing soup dumpling place across the street and many other places to eat and go for drinks. My fiancée and I walked about 10 minutes to this cute bar called the ballyhoo. The hotel itself was super clean and the kitchen area was stocked with dishes and cooking ware! Hotel attendants came by every morning to ask if we needed more supplies. We will definitely be back!!!

The elevator, hallways and room reeked of stale smoke. The decor and facilities were rundown and in need of upgrading. The entrance to the hotel and parking is in the back alley which is overrun with garbage and overflowing dumpsters. A terrible first impression. The staff was courteous and friendly but we checked out after one night due to the condition and location of the property.

We loved staying at the Sandman. We got upgraded to a corner room w/ extra windows and were allowed to check in early to boot. I've stayed in finer hotels, but not with kitchens and balconies. Two telephones and two televisions! Super value...

Did not like being so high in the penthouse. Property a little tired. Decor in need of improvement. Staff excellent, helpful, cheerful. Short walk to transport and town centre.
