Price good, hotel needs work in rooms.
Dated hotel and conference center. The beds sagged in the middle, the carpets were pretty battered and the decor is well used. The hotel was clean enough and the location was great to Williamsburg as well as Busch Gardens. THey have signs that say refurbishing rooms but think they need to work more quickly.

The exterior had a nice theme that works well with the town. The interior had a few historic things in it but was like, updated and comfortable. It worked especially well for what I needed, just as a day trip, spend the night, and go home kind of thing. I would absolutely stay here again!

Not what we thought….
We were very disappointed in this property. The pictures are beautiful on the app however, when you get there, it’s under construction and hallways have a funny smell in the room. Our room was not ready at check-in. We had to wait almost an hour past check-in and then they still had to switch room in order to make sure that we had a room and I book almost 2 months in advance. Our room even though that thermostat said that it was 80°. It ended up being like 68° the whole night and we could not adjust the temperature, we ended up having to get extra blankets brought to us because it was so cold. The doors to the room were all messed up and scratch and old. Rooms were not clearly marked. The grounds were not cut up very well, and there was construction going on in the backyard. We had a balcony, but the sliding door was broke and screwed shut. The toilet ran all night. The lobby was beautiful. The people were friendly and the maid staff helped a lot.

The property was so bad we reached out to Expedia to complain and cancel the reservation. Our first room was not clean, had an awful smell, the door wouldn’t open with the keycard and once we got in the room we saw the security look for the door was busted off. I then went to the front desk to ask for another room which they gave us with no problem. Once we got to the second room we had problems getting into it. (We subsequently discovered that the batteries for both doors locks were dead). The room had a better smell but had black mold in the bathroom. When my wife went to put some sodas into the room fridge the cabinet door holding the fridge fell off and hung by one hinge. At this point we were both pretty upset that our weekend getaway was off to a lousy start. I went to the front desk to speak to the manager to ask if they had another property they could move our reservation. I was told the manager was in a meeting and very busy and no idea how long they would be in a meeting. I returned to the 2nd hotel room and tried to call Expedia customer service. After 4 attempts I was able to speak to a customer service representative as I had been disconnected the 3 prior calls. I explained the situation and our dissatisfaction with the property reservation and conditions. The customer rep was very helpful and was able to speak to the property manager. The property manager released us from our reservation but did not have another property to move us. We left for another hotel.

Historic stay
It has a breeze of history. Lobby has 1970 decor, but I would keep it for the mood, there are war artifacts in display. Rooms are under renovation, so for now minus on cleanliness, due to humid weather, outside windows are always precipitating water, but breakfast buffet was clean and well arranged with good morning meal.
