To start the property was in the best location! It is close to Seaside and is situated directly on the beach. Could not have asked for more.
We drove 5 hours to get to the property and could not access the property due to the door code not working. We called the property management company and they kindly walked us through and the door code still did not work. We tried the old door code and it finally worked. Not a deal breaker but when you have two hungry, tired children, getting access to the unit when you arrive on time is critical. We finally gain access and unload our bags and as we begin to get ready to head down to the beach my wife needs to use the restroom, the only restroom in the unit, and the ceiling is dripping water onto the toilet and puddling in the bathroom. The drip continues the rest of the afternoon getting worse in the evening. My family could not use the bathroom without someone else holding a trash can over their head to catch water. Real nice stuff. The property management sent a young man out to drain the AC unit above thinking it would help. It did not. I called after-hours to get a plumber out and finally, the drip(s) were stopped around 2 AM.
In addition to the water leak on our head, the unit had visible black mold on the kitchen and bathroom AC vents. I wouldn't be surprised if the entire ceiling had mold in it. Also, roaches made frequent visits to us during the nighttime hours.
After it was all said and done Benchmark management offered us 10% off our next stay with them. Insulting at most, 10% wouldn't eliminate Santa Rosa Beach Taxes. Will never stay with a Benchmark property again.
