We stayed here for my husbands birthday treat and on entering the room (with terrace, which I would recommend - the bathroom is also very clean and spacious) he was presented with some home made chocs on a slate wishing him a happy birthday. Which was a lovely touch. The food was excellent- I would recommend Rock Turbet with sampfire. Service was excellent throughout. This was our 2nd visit and we will hopefully be back soon.
My stay was lovely, thank you. The only down side was rude guests which obviously you can’t help. But at check in but 2 different guests pushed in in front of me and 1 was allowed to by the check in staff and then the second was told it was my turn.
Check was very quick and despite there being an event being held the night of our stay the entire hotel was very quiet.
Excellent food and wait staff and bar staff were very friendly also.
We will be booking again and hopefully have more time to enjoy the surrounding property and communities.
This hotel is very affordable, and seems to cater to business travelers during the week. Hotel could use some sprucing up. Hallways need fresh paint and while the bathroom looked great, my shower did overflow a bit. The great room was 800 years old and in general the gathering rooms had a fishing and hunting vibe. Situated on the river Dee and with an old church ruin on the grounds, it was a very picturesque spot. Staff was helpful and friendly, I would recommend this hotel to friends as an affordable and pleasant accommodation.
The person who checked us in was lovely. The room was fine. The view was great. We ate in the restaurant and the food was okay. The service in the restaurant for dinner was terrible. After dropping off our meals, we never saw the server again. Sat there for 45 minutes before we left and the front desk person tracked down the bill for the meal and charged it to our room.
Great hotel with lovely staff - especially Sophie who drove us to our restaurant when the taxi didn’t turn up. Lovely location and excellent atmosphere
