From the south facing balcony and perched on the 21st floor you can take in the vibrant colors of the shoreline and generous salt air breeze. Prop up your feet, sip your tea and read the entire newspaper as you ease into your day at the beach.

When inside, the open floor plan flows easily from living, to dining and into the kitchen so you can enjoy the Gulf views from just about anywhere in the condo – even the Master bedroom. The kitchen has been updated with a crisp coastal feel of natural stone countertops and stainless steel appliances. There’s plenty of space to prepare a large family meal for a night in – or arrange a quick lunch at the breakfast bar before you hit the beach.

The beach – the reason why you’re here! It’s fulfilling to take it all in from the balcony, but now it’s time to get those toes into the sugar-white sand. From the elevator, stroll through the lagoon-like pool area and right to the beach access. As you walk through the pool area, you can grab a refreshment from the Tiki Bar (open seasonally). At the beach find your perfect spot and sit right down to a day filled with exploring, relaxing and wave-watching.

When the day is done, the condo’s comfortable arrangements will offer a restful night. Each bedroom has a king bed and the master bedroom offers an en suite bathroom with dual vanity for added privacy and convenience. Each room has a TV perfect for winding down.

Nice but a bit run down

We had a great time at Westwinds. The unit would benefit from a deep clean. The primary bathroom shower curtain was quite moldy. The kitchen cupboards and drawers were also found to be a bit dirty. Despite these small concerns, the unit was great. Bed was comfy and view unbeatable.

Short getaway

Overall this place was great and we enjoyed our stay! The view is amazing like pictured, the resort pools and beach access is also amazing! We did see and kill two cockroaches, I think this can be expected in these type of buildings? People mention about updates needed, I agree it could use some updating but for the price I do think this place was worth it. Unless I’m paying for. 5 star resort like sandals, I don’t expect perfection. We will return to Westwinds in the future!!

A++ View C+ accomodations

This condo is on the 21st floor of the West Winds building and and the view of the beach is breathtaking!! However, the room was dated. The sofa was tired looking and very uncomfortable for sitting. Beds were so-so...not super comfortable but not the worse. The bed in the 2nd bedroom was very squeaky and my son said he woke up every time he rolled over. We only had one hand towel per bathroom and one roll of toilet paper. We found a pair of panties under an ottoman in the masterbed room. The kitchen was lovely and well stocked with everything you'd need. Tubs were worn and master tub dripped constantly. Great, easy to use TV/cable. And again, the view was gorgeous. For the price, I was expecting the condo be nicer.

There was dust everywhere. I had to clean it myself. Awful!

The cleaning crew does bare minimum. I don't understand paying a cleaning fee when you have to come in and clean yourself. I sent pictures to the management team of the dust that was everywhere when we walked in. It was very disappointing. The view however was beautiful.

Fantastic view, comfortable condo

Condo was very comfortable but a bit dated. Kitchen had everything we needed; however could use a new coffee maker. Master shower needs an update and right sink had slow drain. Other than these small details, we would stay here again. We are all about a great balcony with view and this one delivered! The sunsets are amazing from this condo!

The view and everything was AMAZING!!! The things I had problems with is that the temp wouldn’t get under 75 degrees. The biggest problem was in the master bedroom there was dried up blood at the bottom of the sheets. I sent a text and picture to the 3rd party company we booed with and didn’t get a response about it. They did send someone to fix the air but it still wouldn’t get under 75.

Amazing pool and views!

This is our 2nd time back to Westwinds and it is by far the best resort in Destin! The views walking down to the pool make you feel like you’re in Hawaii! The room was on the top floor and had amazing views down the entire coast. The condo was spacious and had everything we need. As other reviews stated, the condo really needs repainting and new carpet. There were stains on the comforters and bathroom walls were dirty. My feet were dirty from walking around. It wasn’t anything that affected our stay, but just not as clean and prestine as other condos we’ve stayed at. There was construction on a home below that was a little noisy, and some painting/exterior work happening around the property. Overall, we had a great stay and would recommend the resort! You won’t find a better property in Destin!

Great location for a family vacation

Wonderful beach-front property for a family vacation. Nice to have owner-supplied beach umbrella, chairs, and kids toys. Unit was clean and well laid out (2.5 baths and 2 bedrooms). Minor issues included 1) the number of wrist bands for beach and pool access did not match the number of occupants when we checked in (there was one band for six people, maintenance personnel quickly got us five more bands), 2) the ice maker either was not functional or was not hooked up, so we had to buy ice, and 3) quality of the stove and dishwasher was bottom-of-the line, but functional (dishwasher door would not open all the way, so bottom rack for dishes could not be pulled all the way out for loading and unloading, spray are in bottom of dishwasher was coming apart, dishes didn't always get clean without lots of pre-washing, dishwasher activation was somewhat challenging, stove elements and bottom storage drawer were fairly light-duty in quality). Building and condo access key pad systems worked well. Excellent vehicle parking options. Actual space for beach access is somewhat limited, since the facility fills most of the beach with their umbrella and beach chair rental units (~$45/day for an umbrella and two chairs). If you want to be at the water you need to get out early to set up your umbrella before the facility fills up the beach with their rental units, which seems like a bit of an income racket! Beach cleanliness is very good. No problems with loud music or obnoxious beach guests.

Right beside the elevator — noisy!

The Westwinds building is awesome. We’ve stayed there before and love it. This particular unit, however, is right next to the elevator. The machinery from the elevator is incredibly noisy and goes alllllll night long. We didn’t get a decent night’s sleep during our stay. It’s on the top floor, so the view is nice. Decor is fine, but updates are needed; bathroom cabinets, for example, have peeling paint. We will stay in Westwinds again, but not this unit.

The condo was great! Nice furniture, comfortable beds, fully equipped with all the essentials and we enjoyed the view by being all the way at the top. Only issue we had was cleanliness. We found toenail clippings on the floor, left over toys under TV stand, and the floor was still sandy. With a toddler who plays/crawls/puts everything in his mouth, we were pretty unhappy. We cleaned it up and moved on, but this may need to be addressed with westwinds' housekeeping department.

Spectacular view 21st floor but clothes dryer was not working

Grand view of the beach but clothes dryer did not work, and patio chair broke. It was replaced but on the last day we were there. They did allow us to check out late to accomodate us for the chair which we appreciated. All said, we enjoyed our stay. Minor inconveniences but at the price you pay, you expect near perfection.

Life at the 21st floor

This was exactly the view from our condo....all the way down the beach toward Destin. The condo itself was spacious and well appointed. The beauty of Sandestin is found on the beach, the Gulf of Mexico, the clouds, and the sky. The days were spectacular...some of the most stunning I have ever seen. The sunsets are breathtaking and we watched one every night from our balcony.
