We booked a long room for 4 nights during the Thanksgiving week. The room is simple and clean, the beds are very comfortable. Our room has an old style gas heater, but it kept the room warm. There is a small balcony facing the redwood trees.
The only place that has internet is the pool lounge. But we are here for relaxation so it is not an issue. There is a very nice fireplace in the main reception area with game tables.
The staff are nice. We had a great stay here.
It's important to note that due to the closure of PCH, and the other weather issues the area has had to endure, that Big Sur is struggling on a lot of levels. The Lodge was severely understaffed and the staff that was there was surly and defensive when approached. It made the stay difficult to manage. Again, I understand the issues the area is dealing with, however this was one of the busiest weeks of they year so there should've been better prep on the part of the management. Mason was helpful but we are still waiting to hear back from him (or anyone at the lodge) about the adjustment made to the last night of our stay. Please let us know if you read this. Praying that Big Sur recovers fully and we'll continue to visit and support as this is a very special place to my family and I.
Everything was great except the heater was really noisy when it clicked on and off. We realized we were better off heating the room and then turning it off to sleep. Which wouldn't have worked if it was really cold all night.

Disliked: Staff & service
Extremely poor customer service.
We stayed one night. The hotel was prepaid and booked on Hotels.com. But, we were charged again but the hotel for the room. Three calls to the hotel later and still no return call from the manager regarding the over charge. Very dissatisfied!
The BigSur Lodge is not a hotel but a collection of connected cabins which are outdated. The heater was not able to heat the cabin. There is only WiFi in the “conference center” which is run down, lacking proper seating. A poor experience
We have loved Big Sur. Staying at the lodge was a treat. The park has a lot of wonderful trails to explore.

Liked: Property conditions & facilities
Loved location but lack of wifi in rooms or main lodge was disappointing. Wifi is dismal convention room was ridiculous. Old soap bar left in our shower, heater made loud clicking and popping noises all night and half the vertical slats on bathroom window were missing. Property well maintained though and trails super close.
All the modern conveniences in a beautiful rustic setting

Liked: Amenities
The check in woman was a bit grumpy and short. The room was nice but the bathroom could use some upgrade and the pillows are lumpy. Not everyone likes Earl Grey tea. Very perfumy. A plain black tea like English breakfast would be a better choice for all tastes. But the real mugs were a nice touch. Dinner was very nice and waitress very pleasant.
Comfortable and spacious rooms. These are old cabins but they are clean and have the usual in-room amenities: coffee, fridge, charging ports, etc. The entire point of being in Big Sur on this trip was to be out and about reveling in the beauty of the place so this lodging was perfect for us. Loved not having a TV and less than excellent connectivity while here. Very nice to unplug.
