Landed at midnight in Newark and called the hotel to ensure they could accommodate my check in, person at the desk said it would be no problem. Arrived to the hotel at 1:30 and was told there were no rooms available and I could not stay there. Was then told there are no available rooms in the area. After about 45 minutes of searching I was offered a bunk bed room at the Pod in Times Square for $900/night. I asked for a refund ($1200) and was told I could not have one because I did not book directly with the hotel.
The desk staff at Times Square was more sympathetic and offered me a discount to accommodate.
The rooms are uncomfortably small for two people. The bathroom wall is made of glass and every time one of us needed to use the bathroom, the other had to leave the room. The hotel was clean, staff was very helpful and area was amazing.

As a solo traveler, Pod Brooklyn was fantastic - the building was clean, stylish, and the staff were very helpful.
What others see as a "small" room, I saw accommodations that checked off most of the essentials (quiet, safe, comfy bed, etc.) while encouraging me to get out and explore Brooklyn and Manhattan.
I can't speak for those with bigger groups or looking for a "luxury hotel" experience, but I would definitely go again.
Location is great, rooms are clean and tiny, check-in was easy and polite but “service” and amenities are old-school
College dorm at best. Restaurant was “temporarily” closed; a morning only, single k-cup coffee maker in the lobby for all guests to share was thw only morning wale-up option. No juice, no water, no vending, no place to purchase anything without leaving the hotel (We’re being punked right?) Narrow hallways were being painted with active guests passing thru. Fumes were pervasive. Upon checkout, they had the nerve to add an unannounced “facilities fee” to my prepaid invoice. Said it was compulsory for bike rentals etc….. say what? I didn't rent a bike or take advantage of any theoretical facility amenities- not even housekeeping services!! . There were ni amenities to speak of. My expectations for the POD hotel were not tthat high to begin with but I’ll not stay here again because of this act of unannounced extortion. Pod corporation should be better than this.

Disliked: Amenities
I would have checked our immediately if I wasn’t only staying for a night. The toilet was in the shower! That was so disgusting to me. I was so uncomfortable in my room. The reviews said the rooms are small but it didn’t prepare me for what I experienced. It was the size of a jail cell. Also, the restaurant/bar in the lobby was closed and so was the outside area. I gave it a try because I was sold on the rooftop and common area spaces, which I didn’t get to experience at all. I felt like it was a waste of money. And they charge a destination fee, which I’m not sure why cause nothing was included not even a bottle of water in the room. The tv was the size of the TVs that are in a car.
Unless you are looking for a crash pad, go somewhere else!
I’ve been an avid Pod tenant for a several months now, and this is the first time I stayed in the Brooklyn location. It was definitely louder at night than the Times Square location due to people coming and going from their rooms, but other than that the experience was just as good!
The positives; good location in Williamsburg and friendliness of staff.
The absolute tiniest room I have ever stayed in. The toilet is actually in the shower area and there is nowhere to put your luggage. This is not the hotels fault but obnoxious drunk people who are super loud at 2 or 3 in the morning, were you raised with zero thoughtfulness to others?? Also, you need to let your guests know on your website before they book that the amazing rooftop is indefinitely closed!
The only reason we stayed here was the proximity to my daughter. Most likely won’t stay again in this particular Pods.
