When the bathroom light and fan came on, there was a distinct odor that smelled like smoke. Not acceptable. The plug outlets in the room were very old and the plugs for out devices kept slipping out of them. That does not work in the present day. The outlets need to be replaced. The toilet would not empty with one flush. It had to be flushed several times to be emptied.

Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful, as was bartender when I wanted to order food to take back to the room from the attached restaurant. The gnocchi contadina they serve has a delicious cognac sauce -- order bread too to enjoy all the sauce. It's nice and quiet around there so close to the shore. Room was clean. Furniture in this first-floor-wing room was old fashioned but fine. Overall, I think I preferred the second-floor room I had last time, even though the stairs to get up there were a little treacherous.

This hotel is located where the Jones Beach bike path begins. This convenience is the best part of the experience. It's a very clean, comfortable place in a lovely neighborhood.

Don’t do it

This place did not look as advertised. It was old dingy it smelt the bates motel would’ve been better. We took one look at the room and left. We did not stay.

This hotel is very old and quaint which is why it is quite unique. It is extremely clean and comfortable and the staff was very courteous and welcoming. I absolutely would stay here again.

Very friendly front desk staff and clean, pleasant room with a little cafe table for two that was nice to eat at. Very good attached Italian restaurant -- you can also take food to go. Could be a bit more accessible -- stairs to the second floor are so wide that you might not be able to hold both handrails at once, and shower could have used a grab bar for safety.

First off, the lady checking us in was rude and grumpy. Then we had to go up two flights of stairs (no elevator). Stair treads most likely arent up to code (steep and very narrow steps) Room had garbage in the garbage can and toilet paper in the toilet. The pillow had a long hair on it and a short/curly hair on the sheets. The room looked like it was from 1920's. Floors were unlevel and the walls were thin. We could hear the other rooms TV and someone snoring. Just a miserable night in a miserable hotel. Avoid!!!
