The room was fine but dated. Low water pressure. Parking is a problem. We were able to secure parking in their garage for 25 pounds per night but it is very limited. If you are driving, don’t expect to get it and the garage at the other hotel is over 40 pounds per day for non-guests.

The service was excellent and our bed was very comfortable. The place is in need to repair, but we were aware that this has recently been approved by the council (as it’s a listed building). The breakfast is great and I highly recommend adding it to your booking. The views were also great. Would book again.

Hotel was nicely appointed. The water for the shower was a bit of a challenge along with humidity due to venting. But otherwise, very nice! Great location and walkable to everything. Brighton had to offer!

Aging hotel in a great location
Excellent service from staff, however quality of bath/shower was very poor for a £125 per night hotel. Even after leaving it running hardly any hot water for showering. Difficult to turn the shower on as the attachment was very old/yellow from its age. Also, as I stayed for a week I would have expected a smart TV in the room to connect to Netflix etc. Be prepared to wait a long time if you need to use the lift.

Run Down, Not Just Old
Some hotels are old, and others are run-down. The Old Ship Hotel is both. When you stay at an old hotel, you should expect to forgive some quirks, for example, an older, slower elevator. Creaky floors. Slow plumbing. All of those things are perfectly normal and acceptable for a hotel as old as this. The Old Ship, however, is in serious need of refurbishment. My room had cracked plaster coming off the ceiling. The grout in the shower had mildew that was long neglected. The walls and furniture were dirty and damaged. Some of the carpets are held down with tape in the common areas and appear to have been that way for a long time. For the price, you can certainly stay elsewhere that will be a lot nicer. I won't be booking again.

Old is the word
The property is old a quirky but is tired and in need of some modernisation. Staff are friendly but the room was very basic and dated.

A historic hotel, but needs some work done understably, reall could do with clean windows after paying a premium for sea front view. Otherwise we really enjoyed visiting here again.

I have stayed at the ship quite a few times and felt this time. The place was very tired and could do with a thorough clean. The bed was comfortable, and the room was adequate for our needs - Just basically sleeping there and getting ready Some of the breakfast products weren’t the best, And felt it had gone downhill in the last year since last staying ! Such a shame for a seafront property
