Great location, great views, great breakfast

"Toyoko Inn Odawara station was our base for visiting the nearby Hakone region during a weekend in March. The connections to Hakone are frequent and the hotel is super conveniently located just a few hundred meters from Odawara-eki. Although everything was near, the location felt really safe and peaceful. The view from our room towards the Odawara castle and the Pacific ocean was fabulous. The room itself had everything we needed. The mattress and pillow were a bit hard though, but I guess it's just what you're used to. The breakfast buffet was extremely generous and I didn't notice any overcrowding mentioned in some reviews. The personnel were all very kind and polite which seems to be the case with everyone and everything in Japan - my impression from our 10-night trip was that Japan and its people are the most civilized nation on this planet. At times I felt a bit shamed for being just an uncivilized Northern European. :) Also Odawara itself seemed like a nice, small ocean front town and I definitely recommend saving at least a day for visiting Odawara that for my knowledge doesn't get a mention in any guidebooks."
