Great location
The check in time took a while , which given the size of the hotel was frustrating. More staff should have been present . The room itself was a good size, and the bed really comfortable. What let it down was the cheap pillows. Rather than having 6 pillows, i could have had less , but a better quality.

Cons (there were many): The restaurant should be avoided at all costs. Servers are hardly qualified to chew gum, despite management's best efforts to correct issues. Glasses and coffee cups were not clean. The furniture in the room was extremely old and needed to be replaced decades ago. After sitting in the chair in the room I was in, I discovered a bug of some sort crawling on me... I segregated the chair from my belongings and avoided it like the plague without observing the critters again. The bed sheets smelled as if they were moldy. The door sealing material was so tattered that I had to remember to move my head as I entered the room to ensure the long, loose piece didn't hit my eye as I entered my room each time. The room safe sounded like it was ready to die each time I used it. The towels, despite being well used ones (nothing inherently wrong with well used but maintained towels), would shed on my regularly making me wonder where all the white fluff on my body was coming from originally. The hangers in the closet are locked on the hanging bar making it impossible to hang certain articles of clothing. Pros: Great location! Close to everything, including shopping and great restaurants (try Hawksmoor, if you haven't - it's expensive but well worth the cost). The breakfast buffet food was pretty consistent and appeared to be prepared well. Note: Rooms are small but it's enough space to sleep in (get out and see London!). The restaurant only accepts cards for payment

The Strand Palace is an elegant hotel in the very heart of central London. The room was beyond tiny but clean & tidy. The hotels restaurant & bar were very nice. There is so much to see & do within minutes of the hotel. There are also countless restaurants within walking distance.

London 2024 Trip from Minnesota, USA
From Minnesota - We chose the Strand Palace after mapping out activities we planned to do around London and it seemed a good central location with decent reviews. My one worry was it would be noisy and difficult to sleep based on other reviews. However, we had a room in the back corner of the building that is the farthest away from the Strand traffic, so the noise was minimal. The rooms were soundproof as well, sometimes heard people in the hallway but never in their rooms even when we had neighbors on both sides. We checked in at 8 AM and our room was not ready (obviously), so we dropped off our luggage and wandered around the city for a bit. We checked in again at 1 PM and our room was ready, however for other folks they still had to wait till later. The room itself (twin superior) is quite accurate to what is pictured. My one complaint is that the pillows have no support and wish I brought my own (I know they are cheap pillows like any other hotel and this one review won't change that). We opted out of the continental breakfast before our stay; ended up adding it to the room charge for 2 days, in which case it was more expensive. Besides that, it was a perfect place to stay for our trip. FYI, like other reviews state, they do not provide wash cloths as part of the towels, so be sure to bring your own or buy once there.
