We arrived early and were able to leave our bags at reception. The man on reception was friendly, helpful and polite. We checked in at number 30 where the reception is for 24 Sussex. Our room was clean, comfortable and had plenty of tea and coffee facilities. The location was excellent. Close to Paddington and Edgware Road tube so it was easy to get around. The Heron pub was nearby where they do excellent Thai food at a very reasonable price. The hotel provided free croissants and muffins for breakfast which was a lovely touch. The room wasn’t the biggest and not luxury but the price was excellent, the beds were comfy and it was clean. An excellent base for exploring London with lots of pubs, restaurants and shops nearby. All the staff were friendly and helpful and the area felt safe and was quiet at night despite being so central. Would stay again and recommend it.

I am happy that I only booked a one night stay at this hotel. This hotel is terrible and disgustingly dirty. The bed is old and uncomfortable, the sheets were filled with hair, the carpet is old and dirty and also had hair (apparently it had not been vacuumed), and due to it being so old and dirty my one night was not the most pleasant. The only positive thing was that it had a good shower and the stuff was nice. I will never stay here again.

AVOID! Stay somewhere else on Sussex Gardens
AVOID! We paid for a cheap hotel so didn't expect much. But the bed was uncomfortable - you could feel the mattress springs. The only sockets to plug your phone in were at the end of the bed or across the room. The shower overflowed all over the bathroom floor because it wasn't sealed properly on the outside and the drainage was insufficient. Someone did come to cut a bigger hole in the shower drain but it made no difference. The PVC shower mat has never been cleaned and very dirty. The door strip to the bathroom is not fixed and loose so a trip hazard. There was a big damp patch on the wall which to be fair may have been from a recent leak upstairs. There was no response to reporting these issues. We had 2 rooms, one had hand soap and shampoo/shower gel. The other had shampoo/shower gel only. Reception insist they do not provide hand soap even though they were the same brand in one of the rooms. It's London and a good location so they can charge what they like and continue to ignore the problems or pretend not to understand you.

Short OK stay in London with a few issues
This was an OK stay, and staff were polite and helpful, although the room we were in had issues that we shouldn't have had to find. The shower was hot & worked well, but did not drain fast enough when the shower was running, so overflowed out of the tray, soaking the bathroom floor. This was partly because the seal between the shower screen and the tray needed redoing, and partly because the drain was not running away fast enough, causing the overflow. There was a large wet damp patch on the wall (this was a basement room), either from a leak above or in the wall. The carpet was stained and dirty in some places and could do with a shampoo or replacement. The non-slip shower mat was rolled up in the corner of the bathroom and was clearly covered in black mould spots and not cleaned, so we didn't touch that, as it was unusable. The tea and coffee and kettle in the room were fine, and the TV worked OK, but had an All in One remote control, which hadn't been programmed fully, so only did basic operation and couldn't be used to display a TV programme guide, for instance. WiFi seemed to be quite good. The bed was reasonably comfortable, but it felt like the mattress was cheap, with some creaky springs in places. Linen and towels were clean and the room overall was fairly clean and very tidy (apart from the shower mat). Door and building entry was by card, which worked well. Overall the stay was OK for a cheap'ish stay in London, but maintenance could definitely be better.

Room was good for the price. It is close to major subway lines and restaurants. Wasn’t a huge fan of our ground floor window opening up without a screen or protective gate so we kept it shut. Would recommend it to other travelers!

The sink was very small and clogged, literally overflowed onto the floor just while washing my hands. Also had to go out and buy my own soap as the soap bottle that was provided was empty. There was a glass shelf above the sink leaving so very little space between them I could barely get my head over the sink to brush my teeth. The staff was nice, check in and check out was quick and easy.

It was a very basic hotel room. It was clean, but it was very stuffy. The ensuit was also basic and had no soap only shampoo. TV did have netflix though. Arrival was confusing as main reception was further down the block of buildings than the address stated.
