Desperately needs work, the corridors and stairwells are filthy, my shower was blocked, no mug or spoon to make a drink, I had to ask. The place is in desperate need of a face lift. One night was enough. Some work is going on but the place is dated and it feels like it.

Although the staff were lovely. We booked a standard triple room and were first sent to a double room. Then told there were no triple rooms available for our first night. As only 2 of us were staying the first night we accepted a twin room - didn’t seem completely finished. No hot water in the morning.
Were told it would be sorted as we agreed to stay in that room as our third couldn’t make the trip.
Were assured throughout the day that the water would be sorted.
Still no hot water the next morning.
No restaurant or bar due to refurbishment- not told at booking, checking in or on the website.
Have sent an email to customer services but had no response.
Wouldn’t stay here again sadly as it is in a perfect spot for the Christmas markets.
I was grateful there was a hotel open for key workers during the pandemic, but this was awful. Had to enter via a back/stores room door - filthy. My room was filthy, drawers broke, black powder and stuff in the bath, bed hard, coffee stains down the furniture. An absolutely no food. I was very worried about legionella and whether the water system had been flushed as there are only a few rooms in use. The whole place needs a major refurb.
Great Place to Stay, Very Central with Local Shops & Restaurants Nearby Also Very Close to Birmingham New Street Train Station, Staff are Really Friendly & My Room was Very Nice With a Shower & Bath included.
The room we were allocated had not been cleaned and was dirty, unmade bed, dirty towels etc. Back to reception and allocated another room. It was extremely small, no window, no air conditioning, very disappointing! We had problems not being able to use key cards, and had to get them changed.
first the desk clerk refused to check me in without photo ID which was not a term of contract before placing the booking thru the agent and which I didn't have; then hotel wanted me to produce a credit card which I didn't recognise which clerk said was a credit card unconnected with me or the agent but that I had booked with (I booked with agent!) kept me waiting for an hour so I missed appointment) Then instead of reprimanding an incompetent employee manager maintained needed photo ID untill I pointed out that ID was not a requirement in agents contract with me and what was on the counter was not relevant .Couldn't get hold of the agent by phone in a distressing circumstances when I was a very long way from home. Very very poor service all round
Very central in pedestrian area near facilities, sights, shops, eateries etc. Comfortable enough. Good shower power.
Has seen better days. Only single glazing. Lack of maintenance apparent - only 1 of 2 lifts working, toilet did not flush (moved room), tap dripped.
Interior walls paper-thin.
Staff all brilliant!
the whole floor and room were very smelly, window very old and not well closed hearing all street noise, hearing noise from next rooms, bed not comfortable at all
