Room decor was very dated, but also stained and unclean. The shower did not work past a trickle with an occasional burst of water! Luckily we only stayed for one night as were at an event nearby for the evening. Terrible!

Lovely hotel

This is a lovely hotel - the staff are so friendly the rooms are really big and spacious decor is slightly old fashioned for this day and age but netherless still very nice! Didnt have chance to try the marco pierre reatauraunt Within the hotelbut we throughly enjoyed our stay!

MANOR NOT MANNERS

Pros: Location
Cons: Front of house attitude; all staff should be encouraged to read the hotel information book guaranteeing 'A warm welcome'.
Location: NEC Exhibition site is a short drive away so the hotel is well located for off site accommodation.
On arrival the receptionist was quite unwelcoming; and sharp in attitude. I requested an alternative room to the 'Accessible' room I was allocated, (as I am well over 6'0'' tall, and accessible rooms have low basins etc); I was rudely told no other rooms were available. When checking location details only an hour before en-route the site was showing rooms still available. She remained unmovable even after admitting 'we only have 10 other rooms free'; and we were shown to the 'accessible' room. The room had obviously not been serviced properly as the bedding had not been changed, and there were medication tablets scattered around the floor. I returned to the reception and again the rude receptionist didn't fully acknowledge my complaint, instead she looked past me and commanded a colleague to check my claims. He was apologetic and came to the room confirming our concerns and that we would be allocated an alternative room. he returned moments later and moved us into an adjacent room which was better suited to our needs. I returned the original key cards to the receptionist and magically she became apologetic and more accommodating. The only dining option was the Marco Pierre White steak bar. Ultimately an overpriced gastronomic 'brand' experience; average quality food and massively overpriced backed up with small portions. You are paying for the name not what goes on the plate! Waiting staff were good however. Overall the whole experience was tainted from the start.
