Location was very good and there was very little traffic noise, so nice and quiet despite being so central. We, however, did not sleep well at all as the bed was so uncomfortable - it sagged really badly in the middle so you ended up rolling together. It's obviously an old mattress and should have been replaced well before now. Also amenities in room were sparse - not much of a selection for tea or coffee or quantities of each and very basic toiletries - no shower cap - and towels rough, thin and bath towels themselves very small.

Good Location We required room service for food as we were late returning back to our room on Saturday evening but was told it was unavailable as the kitchens had closed. Perhaps a little more help of where we could get a takeaway or something similar would of been greatly appreciated after spending a lot of money on a superior room for 1 night. Very disappointed with this from a Mercure Hotel.

Very happy, clean and comfortable. But paid a premium for a riverside view and couldn’t see anything as tress completely obscured the view.

City stayover

Pros: Good location
Cons: Needs refurbishing
Location: Plenty of good eating places, bars, museum, cathedral, all within walking distance.
The hotel in general is tired and needs refurbishment. The location is good however as you can walk to restaurants, bars and shops.

Fire alarm

The fire alarms went off throughout the building at 10am Sunday morning and I jumped out of bed and ran down the staircases from the 6th floor in a panic!... only to find staff and a couple of other visitors meandering about leisurely and seemingly taking no notice! No explanations or instructions were given. I couldn't help wondering if this is how The Mercure ensures all visitors are up and ready for check out at noon..? Mx

central to the city opposite the canal

stayed for 2 nights, clean and tidy hotel, I usually aim for this as it is central to where I need to be. Parking is at the NCP but the hotel give a 25% discount there.
