Vanbrugh Hotel is very central for everything.A bit pricey for what you get but I guess the location makes up for that.It no longer provides a cooked breakfast which is disappointing and the rooms are quite small but very clean.I was awoken both mornings of my stay at 5am with the noisy bin collections from the back yard which was right outside my window but if you are only here for a couple of nights its not a showstopper.

We appreciate guests feedback and take it seriously and act on the negative comments regarding breakfast which we hope to improve in the near future. With regard to parking, the nearest to us is Worcester Street Pay & Display, which after you have dropped off your luggage is only a 5/10 minute walk away. We hope that we are able to accommodate you when you are next in Oxford.

Good middle of the road hotel, great location.

We got off to a bit of a rocky start when there was no-one at the reception desk when we arrived to check us in. And when we eventually were taken to our room, this was at the entrance to the dining room and smelled like sewage. Nevertheless, the sewage issue was resolved whilst we were out and there was little noise from the rest of the hotel whilst we were in the room. The bed was incredibly comfortable and we had a fabulous nights sleep. There were nice touches to the room, such as White Company toiletries and a fridge filled proper milk, water and snacks all complementary. it’s a shame there wasn’t any proper coffee to go with the milk, just Nescafé freeze dried sachets. Not sure of the decor in this room, a little bland, but the bathroom was lovely. Sadly no bath though as pictured when booking. All in all, the hotel for its price has both ups and downs, but mainly ups. I would certainly try booking again but perhaps when there is an offer on. £250 a night hotels perhaps a little too steep?
