Cons: Internet access was slow and needs to be improved. I was on the top floor and maybe it didn't reach that far.
The internet was not the best. Room was clean and comfortable.

Comfy bed and a decent shower

Pros: The room was spacious and clean. The bed was comfy and the shower worked well.
Cons: When booking we understood breakfast to be included, but on arrival we were asked to pay again.
Location: 20-30 mins walk from York, and there's free parking nearby
Stayed here on a Friday night as a couple on a tight budget. The town center is 20 minutes brisk walk away so this was ideal for our evening in York. We had a problem with breakfast, we'd booked B&B online but the staff needed us to pay again. Breakfast is continental style, so rather basic, but good enough for what we needed. The room was warm, the bed comfortable, and the shower worked well. Around 5 minutes down the road you can park for free.

Good location, but not as advertised!

Lovely location (just up the road from the racecourse and walkable to the town centre). As promised when I emailed, they provided a parking permit which meant that we could park right outside the gate! I'm not sure if the £4 charge is profit or cost, but it is reasonable. I was a little surprised to be asked for a £10 deposit. On the site it said we would get a free continental breakfast & 11am checkout, but staff were adamant that the rate was room only and we would have to pay £6 for breakfast, plus when asked they said checkout was 10am. Not a good start! Thankfully things did get better! We were sbown to our room, number 4 on the 1st floor, which was a triple instead of a double which was nice. The tea tray was well stocked (though no biscuits) & there was a 40 inch TV on the wall! The en-suite was big enough without being huge, but there were rough edges - the hadwash had a strange smell (rose petals with a twist of curry maybe) & the dispenser was broken (ok when you realised how to operate it). The floor tiles were loose and a few cracked &/or chipped. I did find a few creepie crawlies too. The shower was good - powerful, hot & easy to control - the let down was the shower head which was bordering on disgusting. All in all, for the price, I would return.

Diamonds

Pros: Location.
Cons: Somewhere guests could relax other than their own room.
The place is about 10 minutes walk from town centre.Nice clean room and friendly staff. I booked by a bigger website and they gave me wrong information but the hotel went out of their way to help me.

Hotel okay, aber Frühstück und Service ungenügend!

Das Zimmer war nicht top aber in Ordnung. Sous-Terrain ohne wirkliche Fenster mit Ausblick, das Bad in mittlerem Zustand. Das größte Problem war das Frühstück: in den kurzen Frühstückszeiten war der Frühstücksraum hoffnungslos überbucht und wir mussten (mit hungrigen Kindern!) über eine halbe Stunde warten. Unmöglich. Dabei wäre die Lösung ganz einfach: a) Frühstückszeiten erweitern um das Ganze zu entzerren, oder b) einfach nicht mehr Kapazität verkaufen als man hat!!

Room was clean, but complicated hotel team

The room and bathroom were nice and clean. We specially reserved the room with breakfast, but it came out the next morning that it was not included. The hotel team was not very helpful and quite complicated regarding the breakfast. Even we showed that it was included, we lost lots of time proving that.
